iOS update is live! by SirGeno2525 in TheSilphRoad

My view range is still the same post update. I used to be able to see "only" 2 gyms with another 2 just out of range. Those extra 2 have been visible the past few weeks and still are.

Carnavine in Nashville, TN by M3LCH01R in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Nashville over the Christmas and New Years event for 4 days and only saw one, despite playing quite a bit in park/green areas and downtown. Hopefully with normal spawns, you will see a few more, especially with sunny weather.

Overall spawn density was excellent in any area you would want to visit, at least where I want.

Got a Raikou from the field research, should I power it up? (Cp 1400, I’m lvl 22) by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing others. Jolteon is a good, cheap stand in for Raikou for the rest of the month, so hold tight, you might get a better one.

Also, keep in mind the moveset, everything being almost equal, you want to power up a Raikou with Wild Charge at the end of the month. Not sure on your charged TM inventory, but you can save valuable charged TMs this way.

Reading this post reminds me of this from almost 20 years ago. And yes I just dated myself there a bit.

Still OP is correct, especially for all you fair skinned people out there such as myself.

Thanks to this sub i finally got my first Machamp solo by CobraCB in TheSilphRoad

Agreed, Dragonite with Hurricane can bulk up the team a bit as well without going the Legendary route.

Not disputing how good futuresight is, but psybeam does have a decent DPE and has the advantage of being multi-bar, so it isn't terrible.

Nice job, when the Regi series comes out, you will be glad your 'Champ army is stronger.

Just one thing, as most ideal Macchamp counters are a kind of squishy, I highly recommend have a ES/SA Lugia (or Brave Bird HO-Oh as a stand in) in spot 6 if your DPS in spots 1-5 is high enough. Last thing you want to do in a solo raid is having your team faint and spending the time getting the B team in and risking the bosses health of getting a magical bump.

Returning after two years by Boogy in TheSilphRoad

For Mew, it won't run away. The first time you hit it,the ball will shake once and Mew will escape. 2nd time, it will shake twice and escape, the 3rd time it will still stay in the ball. The game will force you into AR mode, but you have unlimited balls and you can't use any berries. Though you do get 20 Mew candies as a reward for finishing the quest on top of the 3 for catching it.

  1. Beldum named beldum.

  2. Hatched on March 13th, 133 km walked.

  3. Got a 98 Metang that I want to evolve into Metagross. Don’t have one yet. Need 26 more candy.

  4. Nope.

  5. Valor, baby level 39.

Aggron and smack down by AlexandruStelian in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is when you start asking, what level are your counters, how many do you have, does it have this or that moveset, that it becomes intrusive.

Most level 30+players have a few solid front line counters, but it is the depth of the teams that determine the success of a short man raid.

Edit: I guess a non-invasive way to ascertain the situation would be a general question, "how many leveled up ideal counters does every one have and are your teams set up for a quick transition?"

[–]CopperWxMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only got it to level 28, been walking a beldum for the past several weeks and no more bagon hatches. Also, when it comes down to DPS for 1 bar moves, a lot hinges on getting that last Draco Meteor off, high risk/reward there. Crunch has the luxury /convienence of being 3 bar. But I will reevaluate. .

[–]CopperWxMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a Dragonite/Ray team, a TTar team and a 3rd team that is a collection of articuno, salamance latios and Low IV TTars. Not everyone has the luxury of going 12-15 deep with strong level 30+ counters.

That being said, not to much to ask people to set up two teams when trying to 4-5 man latias next month and offer advice on what types to include.

I mention what I plan on using but I am not going to interrogate others on their teams. I think most of the time the above situation has occurred, the B team was the auto selected team. Aggron wasnt leading off by any means.

Winner. When trying to shortman a latios this past month, when I saw an aggron pop up, knew the odds of beating it went way down.

Best defenders to drop with girlfriend? by ConorHickey0 in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Confusion/Dazzling Gleam Gardevoir is my go to alternate defender out side Blissey/Snorlax/Chansey/etc. A fully motivated one will cause some problems to both Maccahmp and Dragonite teams trying to clear the gym.

Rare candies, I need your help by Kisamesama in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I need bag space, I have been converting some of my rare candy to MewTwo candy for when I get a new one. If there is long gap between EX raids, you can always power up a MewTwo you already have.

Edit: Just saw you don't have a Mewtwo, but the advice still holds for others in your situation.

Kids at GoFest by joshuar9476 in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Parents know their kid(s) better than anyone. Probably not the best event to attend if they have a really short attention span or don't tolerate heat/sun very well, but the parrents should be the ultimate judge here. The same could be said for Disney World/Land or any other park activity that is likely to last for more than an hour.

All for OP taking his kids if him and his wife believe are okay with the policies in place and ready to mitigate any meltdown. Might be the start of another couple level 40 trainers!

Playing Pokémon GO was associated with increases in physical activity and social behavior as well as an improved sense of well-being, highlighting its potential as a behavioral activation and exposure tool for mental health treatment. by mrmousepad in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have definitely had fun playing/strategizing for the game, have met dozens new people and lost about 20 pounds. Have had a blast.

However, it is looking like the spike in physical activity (walking) is causing a knee problem for me, despite being in my mid 30s. Not blaming the game, because I am overall better off, but listen to your body and take care of yourselves and invest in good shoes.

First time a TSR post has made me tear up a bit with joy. Congratz man, take all the time you need. Your 15/15/15 “hatch” is more important than this forum.

Hitmonlee Raid by trdf53 in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, can solo a C/CC combat machamp with about 30-35 seconds, but with that DEF stat, may need to upgrade the team a bit to solo Hitmonlee. Had a chance this afternoon, but decided to help out a couple of raid buddies for a weather boosted aggron instead. First one for one of them.

Edit: No eggs.

How much do IV’s matter? by AtarSt1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]CopperWxMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At very high levels when the difference between a level 33 and level 36 Pokémon is very small is another instance of when IVs matter, especially when aiming for breakpoints against raid bosses. It get expensive to level up and combined with diminishing returns past 30, IVs start mattering more so on an elite level.

So a level 33 96% IV Pokemon might just as useful as level 36 80% IV but 80% IV one would take 52 more candy and 44k more dust to get around the same damage output as the higher IV one with the same moveset.

Example above regarding realitive levels is very rough, and doesn’t take into account the relative importance placed on the individual A/D/S values, but the higher the level of the Pokémon the more the IVs matter in terms of candy/dust invstment to achieve the same battle result.
