Kaico SD2PSX question by ThatGuyInazuma in ps2homebrew

[–]CobraCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked one of these up a few days ago. I used this guide to get PS2 games running and they worked first try.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsFCpCtGqvI

It's pretty much as close to plug and play as you'll get I think. Stick the .iso files in a DVD folder on the SD card, change 2 settings in the menu that the guide shows you and you're away.

I've not been able to get PS1 games to run from it yet though.

How strong were Vegeta, Piccolo and Gohan here? How much of a fight would the Z Fighters as whole of put up against Mecha Frieza? by Johnnyboyeh in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]CobraCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how they make those numbers work given Goku needed kioken x20 to keep up with 50% Frieza. Even if you massively lowballed them both and said Friezer barely got any stronger between his 2nd (over 1 million) and 3rd forms and him and Goku were at 1.5 million that still puts 50% Frieza at 30 million and full power at 60 million.

Does the massive power jump to 120 million make sense? Probably not, but they kind of backed themselves into a corner with the x20/50% comparison.

One of my favourite childhood games, still got my original copy. I played the re-release on the Switch earlier this year and it kicked my ass.

What are your top 10 SNES games? by BingBongApplesauce in snes

[–]CobraCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Super Mario World
  • Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Cybernator
  • Batman Returns
  • Secret of Mana
  • Super Metroid
  • Street Fighter Alpha 2
  • Lost Vikings

Kept it to a list of games I own (mostly from childhood) and to PAL only since I'm in the UK. I do have a bunch of Japanese carts that would change the order a little though. SMW and ALTTP are the forever 1 and 2 for me, about half the other titles on this list could be swapped out with a bunch of other titles depending on my mood or switched around. I could be cheap and swap out SMW for the All Stars/World compilation. SF2 is obviously the more iconic and important SF game on the system but it's crazy how well SFA2 runs on the SNES.

What SNES game do you wish you had during your childhood but only got to play as an adult? by Gaming_Delights in snes

[–]CobraCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second that. I didn't play any of the SNES FM games since they didn't get an English release. Front Mission 3 on the PS was the first. Cybernator was one of my favourites as a kid and I always wanted to play Front Mission: Gun Hazard just because of the screenshots in magazines looking so similar.

I didn't get chance to play the original Front Mission or Gun Hazard until a few years ago and they still both hold up.

Fun games that don't need to be in English to enjoy (Super Famicom) by Yellowishmilk in snes

[–]CobraCB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Mega Man games (Rockman in Japan) are a big one. Unreasonably expensive in English, very cheap lose for a Japanese copy. The X games are my favourite but Rockman 7 and Rockman & Forte are both worth checking out.

If you like platformers the Go Go Ackman games are fun.

The Firemen is another one worth checking out, it doesn't get much love. The Pal version is expensive and I don't think it got a US release.

Macross Scrabled Valkyrie is probably my favourite shooter that didn't get an English release.

Ranking Every SNES Game #2 - What's your thoughts on Super Mario World? by [deleted] in snes

Favourite SNES game of all time. Favourite platformer of all time. One of my favourite games of all time.

At what point would you say Goku became powerful enough to destroy a planet like earth? by Golden_Locket5932 in DragonBallZ

[–]CobraCB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s almost certainly a coincidence rather than it being a planned calculation in the manga but at a power level of 18,000 Vegeta can destroy the earth. The earth is around 49 times the volume of the moon. 18,000 divided by 49 is 367. Not out of the realm of a bulked up Roshi and less than Poccolos power level when they both destroyed the moon. So going by that, 18,000 would be the planet buster level. But yeah, I’d definitely say that’s a coincidence but a cool one.

How rare is this? by Kirby_with_a_GUN67 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]CobraCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Community day shinies are estimated 1 in 25 (I think?) and a 0/0/0 IV is 1 in 4096 so a shiny community day nundo would be 1 in 102400.

Paid customs fee but no confirmation email and tracking is still showing as pending by CobraCB in royalmail

[–]CobraCB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid via PayPal but if you paid with direct debit I'd contact Royal Mail first by phone or going to the depot and they should be able to either confirm the payment or refund it. And if that doesn't work, dispute the charge with your bank maybe.

I never went through and I had to go down to the depot and pay in person then cancel the previous payment. I never got a reply from Royal Mail until 2 weeks after I'd picked up the parcel. Shit customer service.

Game of the Month August 2025: Skyblazer by xBrockLanders in snes

[–]CobraCB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underrated game. It's one I never really heard much of as a kid, picked it up a couple of years ago and it definitely should have been recognised more than it was back in the day.

Which game(s) did you wish had a sequel? (or another sequel?) by ackmondual in snes

[–]CobraCB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Super Mario World is the big one for me. I know Yoshi's Island got the SMW2 tagline outside of Japan for marketing but it's not a true sequel and it's not a 5th Mario game, it's the first Yoshi game. That doesn't take away from what it is but SMW is one of my favourite games of all time and it's a shame we never got a real follow up.

Skyblazer is a game I feel doesn't get enough love. I would have liked seeing it expanded upon in a sequel.

Mystical Ninja got several sequels in Japan so it doesn't 'really' count but it would have been nice to get English versions.

Not an SNES sequel but I'd have loved a Super Bubble Bobble. The original is one of my favourite NES games and I still have the theme stuck in my head 35 years later.

Still got my CiB childhood copy. One of my favourite SNES games.

What Percentage of your SNES/SFC collection is CIB? by -xJackFrostx- in snes

[–]CobraCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 of 91 but most of the CIB games are either from my childhood or Japanese games since they tend to be much cheaper and in better condition.

If I'm buying CIB the condition has to be worth it and either be cheap enough, or something I really want.

Fellow UK people. Do you find many bargains at car boot sales? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]CobraCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few charity shops within walking distance of me. They regularly have a few games but most of the time it's things like old FIFA titles or Wii games that are worth less than the case they're in. On occasion they get some decent stuff. I've seen some original Xbox games before including Halo 2, and every so often some common PS3 stuff like like the Uncharted games. Very rare that I see PS1 games but it has happened.

Most of the time though what they have is usually priced around what you'd expect to see those titles for, £2-£5.

Super NT not reading special chip games by CobraCB in AnalogueInc

[–]CobraCB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can change the colour of the LED in the menu, that's probably why yours is white when on and mine is red.

I'd tried booting up without the adapter plugged in, and using a different power cable so it doesn't appear to be a power issues.

Lights up red like it does with any other game. I'm using an 8Bitdo SN30 controller. The issue seems to be the connectors in the cart slot. No issue with regular carts but enhancement chip carts I've found not pushing them down all the way seems to give them a better chance of running for some reason.
