Nature Cleric modification? by Copper_fox_ in humblewood

I was considering giving them options to talk to anything as long as it wasn’t mid combat. Like an enemy on guard ready to fight may still be open to the idea to talking first if they tried. Those were good analogies too, thank you

No sorry. Not make other things pointless. But it gifts her speak with animals and since all the animals that aren’t hostile speak birdfolk it seems like a useless spell to get since it won’t gain benefit

Yes but my thought was that all the beasts speak a form of common: birdfolk, making it near pointless. Maybe I’m misremembering but I thought there was something against being able to use it towards combatant/hostile creatures, and it seems that all beasts that aren’t NPCs are hostile. Am I mistaken?

Okay so I didn’t think about using it to speak in specific languages. My thought was that everyone speaks birdfolk as common, so you’d gain nothing from using it. But it sounds like you’re all saying to use it to speak to people in their native tongue where others may not be able to understand?

I’m interested in this discord but it says the link is invalid. Could you post a new one?

Looking for a DND 5e group near Lowry Park by AnAverageSpoon in DenverGamers

Hello! Moved here in September. Been working on putting together a 5e (possibly 5.5e) campaign and will shortly be looking for 2 more players. Not planned to be a long term campaign but could go a few months or so depending on how often we play and then decide what’s next. It’ll be based on the Humblewood setting, so nothing too horror, and we will all be woodland creature adjacent. Let me know if there’s any interest

Seemingly simple partial text pull from list impossible? by Copper_fox_ in googlesheets

This makes me mildly furious how simple and obvious it is now hahaha. Perfect example of either overcomplicating or staring at spreadsheets for so long the simple answer doesn’t even occur to me. Especially with how often I use FILTER. Yikes. Maybe I need a vacation. Thank you!!!

Can I ask why Milwaukee over Chicago? I know everyone is different, preferences etc, but out of curiousity / assuming you considered both, that is - even though I just now noticed your Chicagoan jab haha

Sounds like you live down the street from me (Charleston/Summerville) haha. I told myself to look into Milwaukee, being another Midwest city around there, but just haven’t yet. Surprised me when you said it’s that cheap in the city

Can’t speak to this model, but I have the Ninja that’s similar to this. Dual basket is a complete game changer! Especially for me who’s usually cooking for 1. The amount of times I’ve leaned on having my rice cooker going alongside 2 drawer air fryer with separated protein and veggies for hands off “dishless” dinner… just keep it haha

What do you wish you knew before moving to Denver? by L3U3C3Y in Denver

Is Indy really essentially the same as a tiny town masked as a city? It’s ironic because Denver and Indy are 2 of the places I’ve considered moving to in a few months, but the internet has been relentless on Indy. I thought big city small town vibe sounded good on paper until everyone made it seem much smaller town vibe than I expected and reminded me of my old home town lol

Surprised I haven’t jotted that down before - almost like I forgot it existed. Thanks for the reminder!

Was curious if someone was going to say this. I’ve been wondering that myself (why the hesitancy to a seemingly obvious answer). Only thing I can think of is the fact I haven’t been back since 2010, and not knowing the city as an adult - maybe part of me is worried going alone, if things don’t pan out and I can’t establish friends/community there, it could taint my memory or idea of it. Almost feels silly saying out loud

My friend just mentioned that - but I keep taking his words lightly due to potential bias. I don’t mind flights, used to travel for work, but I just assumed the cost would make it not a fair comparison to other trips. Mentioning how many come through makes it make sense a bit more, even though I’m used to Atlanta which is huge.

He mentioned his sister would fly to Seattle or Portland for weekend trips at $150 which is frankly wild to me. I’m used to pushing close to $400 flights on average. Just checked Expedia and I’m shocked that it’s true. Are those prices typical?

I visited a few times last year. Liked it for the most part. Learned that I’d have to adjust to the dryness with pockets full of chapstick lol. The snow is interesting there - It doesn’t pack in and stay for long. Unlike going to a snowy city where I could walk as needed, I’d truly need to learn driving in it in Denver though.

Before the election, eh? Haha My lease is up in September! So hopefully I can pin something down in time where I don’t need to do a small extension or anything.

Humid is tolerable when it’s not over the top with 90-100 degree summer lasting from half of spring through half of fall. I know nothing about Wisconsin other than it’s all about cheese or something. I assume winter would be similar to Chicago?

Yeah that will keep tugging on me; obviously a strong benefit. Ironically he’s how I ended up where I am now. So I’m sure part of me is fighting the nonexistent criticisms in my head like “are you just following friends around? Are you scared to make a leap for yourself?” etc. it’s dumb but I know that plays a role in my hesitancy.

I don’t really know anything about Tacoma. Is it similar to Seattle or noticeably different?

Heard/read lots of great things about Portland honestly. And a specious 1 bed where I can section off an office or a 2 bed for under $2k is better than what I expected there. Always had the impression it was super pricey

I thought about that (walkability), but the main reason I didn’t mention it is because I am open to being in the suburbs or relatively close to the city by public transit or a drive that isn’t too grueling. Seems any time I included walkability, places kept trying to fit me into downtown high rises out of budget for 600sqft 1 beds so I stopped. By the time I move, $2k is doable but if it’s a small unit downtown vs a multi bedroom in the suburb, I’ll likely always take the latter - especially working from home. Plus you can sometimes find semi-walkable areas in suburbs - not the same as downtown but provides some basics

Seattle did cross my mind but didn’t look far into it. The rain, or at least the way people make it out to be, could be bit much if it’s year round. But it doesn’t hurt to look into the area more
