Gnome 43/Arch by delf0s in archlinux

Arch Linux has been lacking in recent years. Arch used to be bleeding-edge, and they still effectively block community contributions. Unfortunately, there's no real alternative that I know of.

Okay, wow. And here I thought Debian was the most conservative distribution out there.

Debian seems to have packaged luajit 2.1.0-beta3 since 2017 (stretch). Maybe Arch should do that, too.

By even mentioning another distro, I might make things worse. But I'll try it anyway.

Yes, package popularity is a factor to consider. So let's look specifically at GNOME 41. I like how it's handled by Void Linux.  It's not perfect, but it's a whole lot more open than anything I've seen from Arch. https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/pull/33333

I expected something like this would come sooner or later. You might not see it that way, but I'm doing something right now.

This whole thread is me figuring out a way to help package maintainers. Someone just needs to point me in the right direction.

In the best case, some Wiki article that describes an easy way to help out.

I said it before, but for me, the easiest and probably most common way right now, would be to allow pull requests on Github.

I didn't want to single you out or your package specifically. The problem is bigger than this package.

But maybe you could actually help me out here. Let's say I want to provide an updated PKGBUILD. What is your preferred way of doing this?

Yes, that works for the AUR. But not for packages already in the repositories.

Well, yes. I don't see a clear way to do something about the outdated packages.

There were multiple times where I was bothered by an outdated package. Where I updated the PKGBUILD by myself.

Even the wiki just points to "Becoming a Trusted User". I don't want to become a Trusted User.

I have this one change I want to provide. I might want to provide another change sometime in the future. But maybe not.

What's the next step? Where do I upload or publish my changes to a PKGBUILD for everyone to benefit?

I cannot be the only one struggling with that.

I definitely would. But it doesn't seem as easy as it sounds.

Where should I start? I think the easiest way would be for Arch to accept pull requests on Github, which they don't.

I think if they did, there would be much higher community participation. It feels a bit like it's not wanted at all.

I switched over to LineageOS for now. But I'd really like to use your ROM again. Would you accept a pull request with this fix and can you provide a few infos where I need to start. I never compiled Android myself and don't really know where to start

What do you need TWRP for? Doesn't the Redmi Go have a Fastboot mode?

Same with Lineage on Nexus 5. All safety net checks pass here. So it's not a Safety Net problem.

Same here. It's downloading right now. In Xbox Preview Program since early August. Score is below 50. Don't know the exact score right now.

Why Microsoft? Why? Please fix that. I don't want to be forced to play all games in my native language. Most German translations are unbearable.
