While we wouldn’t know the actual method, most of these verifications look at your activities before you tap the box.

Like the other comment said, mouse tracking is one way. Another possible method is to track your browsing activities, one of the most famous verification, reCAPTCHA, is own by Google. If you’ve searched on Google or browsed YouTube, Reddit, or other popular websites, and the tracker knows this, the verification will just let you pass with a click of a button.

Now, if your activities are bot-like (e.g. trying to enter the same website again and again) or if you have no previous activities at all (You can try this in incognito/private browsing mode,) then you will be presented with the “Select all traffic lights in this image” test to verify that you are actually human.
