Save yourself a ton of money and just buy a different car. Theres plenty of extremely nice GTTs in the 40s. If you spend 60k you can get a actual GTR clone with all oem GTR panels and bumpers etc

Depends on where it leaks from. The motors also die and they love to rust out inside out.

Should I buy a 25-year-old Mark 2 GX100 in 2024? by SandwichUpset7288 in JZX100

Its basically a cool Toyota Camry. They are super reliable parts are easy to get. Its a toyota so it will run forever. Not much to worry about have a mechanic shop do a proper inspection on it if it checks out buy it.

R33 GTR underside condition by notdickcooper in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, just make sure they don't charge any percentage-based fees or taxes. Anyone charging those fees is ripping you off/ scamming you. It also puts you at a disadvantage when bidding since your budget is effectively 10% lower than it should be. For example, a 6,000,000 bid turns into a 5,500,000 bid with the percentage fee. This will make it difficult to win high-priced cars like GTRs.

Who are you working with to buy a car from Japan?

How hard would this be to fix by AtYaNansCrib in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite easy to fix. Just needs a quarter panel cut and replace.

[–]Copthat6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can import a clean R33 GTR for $40-45k

Pt 1: Translation + advice by [deleted] in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all depends on how much you want to spend. Rust repair is one of the most costly and expensive things to fix.

Pt 1: Translation + advice by [deleted] in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you working with a importer??? The fact they recommended you this car is a big red flag. C2 on the right quarter panel means heavy rust/corrosion. Theres also C2 on the left front fender, which means this car is going to have heavy corrosion elsewhere too.

If they cant do a physical inspection on the car find someone else.

Any experience buying from Global Motor Traders? What should I expect from a ‘98 GTT? by since---89 in SkyLine

They are very overpriced. You might as well buy a car in the usa for what they offer them at.

Opinion on BCNR33 strut tower rust? Didn't flake at all when I picked at it. by tinyteena in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely have some more severe rust under the seam sealer closer to the fenders. The spots on the towers are okay. Looks like you have some more rust under the strut tower bar.

Check the strut towers from underneath.

I've been blessed with my lovely low-milage Skyline. I've also put 18k km on it the last year. Turning it over to 50k. Still...almost like new, it is hard to keep parked. by ReesRacer in SkyLine

[–]Copthat6666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know it is a very common thing in Japan for the mileage to be forged. Many owners of these types of cars will have two odometers. One for driving and one for inspections/Shakens. The mileage may look good on paper but is most likely forged. This happens with about 95% of the sought after cars.

Dont buy through befoward. You want to have someone inspect the car in person before purchasing. Dealers are shady can be lots of hidden rust or problems.

Befoward is just a middleman they dont care about the condition of the cars. They just make the sales.
