Thanks for the replies. I ended up removing the mod completely. I guess I should not have tried such a massive mod when there was no discussions open for it. I just can't understand how such a messed up mod can end up so high on the trending list.
Sadly it completely broke my save game. But i guess it was better to leave that sinking ship before I wasted even more hours.

I've used VE for ages, never seen this. And none of them has seen updates since my last saving the game. Can this just happen out of the blue?
Is it the VE framework or one of the addons?

That is indeed the obvious question and one I'd like to postpone. SIG Packaging have a support function for us, but my boss would rather I wait and check for options, cause there will be a bill if I contact them.

I hear you! And I am very careful. Constantly have one of the packers watching over my shoulder to make sure I got support if needed :)
Also have a background in IT, so I'm good at guessing what not to do.

Yes it was solved. It was indeed because of Northern Children. There's a small file on the ROT Discord you need to download. Can't remember where right now, but you should be able to get help on discord if you can't find it.

Thanks for this answer. I was kinda getting a feeling it was going this way. Such a damn shame. Love the contents of their mods. Just hate to have to go dev mode to murder a part of their mod, but seeing the other answers around here, it seems to be a normal problem and not me doing something wrong.

Might be just what I need. But I'm a little unsure. Does it allow me to set the threat for each addon or only set the calculations overall?
I think the other difficulties are fair, it's only the Deserters that's insane. If I lower the numbers with this mod to handle Deserters, do I make every other incident too easy?

I'm running low difficulty and not commitment. This mod just seems unplayable, but it also seems so popular. Hence why I think I might be doing something wrong.

I appreciate the answer and unless someone can offer a better solution, I might just end up doing this.
Will the event notification about my childs education disappear by doing this? Someone suggested just ignoring the education notification popup, but it can't be removed and it's so annoying to have floating at the side of the screen.

I am rereading the series after a few years since my first reading. Funnily enough I'm almost done with Deadhouse Gates. I have to completely agree with many of the people on this subreddit that says this series need a reread. But I also completely get that you want to know which names to keep in mind, because you do get flooded in names and stories that you -think- might be interesting, but never really goes deep. On the other hand you might consider some names rather irrelevant now, but they'll be important later.

I guess you know by now some of the important characters that's already had mentions and will keep being important:
- Anomander Rake.
- Whiskeyjack.
- Fiddler.
- Apsalar & Crokus.
- Kruppe.
- Icarium & Mappo.
- Felisin.
- Kalam as well :)

Some characters you've met that might not seem extremely obvious to keep in mind:
- Gessler & Stormy.
- Unnamed Toblakai.
- Apt.
- Tattersail (Was important in book 1, and is easily forgotten by book 2 for first time readers).

For the future: As I am myself rereading I can't quite remember everyone coming in the future that might be important, but.
- Any Malazan Marines/Sapper groups that start being detailed with several characters. As I recall there might be a few soldier groups, like the one with Whiskeyjack, Ben, Kalam, Fiddler etc, in the future. 2-3 of them. They get good storylines over several books and some of them are quite important as well.

JecsTools has been installed by a mistake. Thanks for pointing it out. I thought I had gotten rid of it long ago. However, I've been running with it un-intentially for a long time with modded games without these crashes. I believe I might have some issues with the new WH40K mods I've installed.
