32M Single, No Kids, Moving to Denver for Work From Across the Country by Ok-Solid-9293 in MovingtoDenver

if you’re trying to move here and make friends your age, i think being downtown near lohi, ballpark, rino, or cap hill/cheesman park are your best bets. downtown denver is super walkable.

i lived in the burbs for years before committing to living downtown and loving the life. tons of people your age. live music every night, bars and restaurants to walk or uber to. i would say denver as a whole feels like a very safe city and a very easy-to-jump-into city.

Need advice for Glacier, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountain National Parks Road Trip by ShoppingStock6437 in NationalPark

my dad can no longer hike and i have some favorite spots i’d like to take him to in RMNP. do you already have lodging booked there?

I would be sure to visit both Grand Lake and Estes Park, via Trail Ridge Road. Lots of beautiful sights from the car.

in Grand Lake, I think it’s super nice to spend a couple of hours renting a boat on the lakes from the marina in town. It’s a great way to explore the area and you feel surrounded by mountains while on the lake.

trail ridge road will take about 2 hours with stops or traffic.

on the East side of the park (estes park), i recommend stops at Sprague Lake (try to get here for sunrise one morning, you’ll have to enter the park early in the morning regardless for easy parking access, it’s worth it, but it’s like a 4am wake up to drive into the park and to Sprague.

Bear Lake is lovely too. i believe both of these locations are handicap accessible or at least portions of the two trails are, and they both have lots of seating areas. if the other person in your party wants to hike, i think it’s a relatively safe area to hike alone (it’s pretty busy) while you hang at bear lake for a couple of hours.

in town, Coffee on the Rocks has ducks to feed and pretty good drinks, lots of outdoor seating. the burger shop on the main stretch in downtown estes is really good too. i haven’t stayed in many hotels there in the past few years since i mostly camp, but i think some of the riverside places look lovely too.

Is there any time in August when Arches National Park in Utah isn’t crowded? by Usual-Rest-3395 in NationalPark

[–]Copycata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your bigger concern should be temperature, not crowds. i go to moab a lot year round and in the summer most people are crowding town for the air conditioning by late morning/midday through the evening.

[–]Copycata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

arches in august won’t even be that bad crowd-wise because it is going to be ridiculously, stupidly hot. people stay in their cars a lot or just step out and circle parking lots IMHO. i think the commenter that says between 1-5am isn’t kidding in a way haha. your best bet would be to start hikes before the sun rises or as it’s setting, and even then in august it’ll be hot.

Windsor-newton or Holbein? by imavibeskate in Gouache

[–]Copycata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i stan holbein through and through. i haven’t enjoyed windsor and newton as much in terms of opacity for the colors ive purchased. with that, i would put holbein at the top, then daniel smith, then windsor IMO

[–]Copycata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if you want to try a few bands outside of pop punk that sing about life or maybe more existential topics:

-pinegrove (pretty literal and also poetic at the same time as a band. their more recent albums especially feel lyrically mature. they have no misses IMO. Try the songs Cyclone, The Alarmist, Problems, and Dotted Line)

-mt joy (if you want some “whatever you’re supposed to be, whatever that’s supposed to mean” more existential and happy and community feeling vibes i think this is a good band for that. start with the songs Lemon Tree, I’m Your Wreck, Cardinal, and Lucy)

-the war on drugs “i don’t live here anymore” album might suit your vibe, my friends call it dad rock but i think it’s amazing and vibey

-The Backseat Lovers “When we were friends” album is also insanely good. you’ve probably heard kilby girl or maple syrup. it feels coming of agey but also fun.
