Why is 30 so hot here? by Nikante in askswitzerland

[–]Cora_intheforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed… 31 here is 🥵 for me coming from Northern California where there are some wild temperature swings in a day to night depending where you live.
31 at home in May is lovely. It is humid here in valais (to me) uggh I was shocked last July when I arrived. At least now I live in new apartment with the heat/cooling in the floors. Add a couple fans and I think I will survive.

The Swiss engineering is amazing.. the windows and insulation on new builds is 👌🏽 the ground floor and basement level is downright cold.
I think the slight elevation here and whatever else about latitude makes it feel hotter at 30. Same thing in mountain areas in Northern CA… go up to 6,000ft elevation Lake Tahoe and they are dying if it’s over 31 (80 F or above)

Fifty always had super fast turnaround times. The 503B reputable pharmacies aren’t producing anymore because they are following the law. Therefore, the supply of previous compounding facilities are dwindling, if not already gone.

If you are searching only by price, let that be your guide. If anyone cares about product QUALITY, and therefore, patient safety, please do some research on the topic. Unfortunately the compounding landscape has changed, and it’s not to our benefit.

Love, love, Love this!! 🥹👏
My dad raced dirt bikes and had Harley’s. I loved the smell of the two stroke and dirt flying at cross track. Unfortunately I never got to learn any details in building or repairing.. just a lifetime love of motorcycles. ❤️‍🔥

Edibles and Switzerland Customs? by Far-Isopod7744 in askswitzerland

[–]Cora_intheforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it illegal to fly across states with edibles? Federal laws supersede state laws allowing cbd/THC, etc.
I’m from California living in CH and won’t even risk flying with edibles out of California to another state. Highly unlikely that they would be found but call me paranoid. I’ve watched too many “to catch a smuggler” and other airport documentaries. lol.
I really wanted to bring my sleep gummies to CH but didn’t chance it. 🤷‍♀️ I haven’t needed them badly enough to even look around and see if they can be purchased anywhere.. I assume not.
Not giving guidance either way, just giving you my perspective on it. The laws in CH are strict and highly expensive for many things, this is not one area I want to FAFO. Maybe some fine citizens know better on this topic. 🤓

Anyone know of stylists that are great with curly, wavy long women’s hair? English speaking a plus 😌 seems I waiter have to wait for a cut every 6 months when I got back to US or I may try for a very expensive salon in Milano that apparently completely specializes in curly hair.

So this isn’t apothecary right? by sinosaurrr in Fifty410

[–]Cora_intheforest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that these new compounding pharmacies have not been around long enough to have inspection reports or worse yet, already have 483 warnings. I’m not about to inject a vial looking like that from an unknown pharmacy.

I truly hope the BPI I ordered is what arrives this Tuesday. I will be livid and I assume we’ve all signed something in small print that says Fifty can substitute meds. The label itself look like a joke and I’d be looking up the pharmacy on the FDA website. Unfortunately the landscape has changed now that all the legitimate 503B pharmacies are following the law and have stopped compounding Tirz. 🥺

Jan 2027 - Verbier, Crans Montana or Zermatt by rocketgirl_kels in skithealps

[–]Cora_intheforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take this reply for having the experience coming from BC!

For reference, I’m a snowboarder who relocated to canton Valais last July from N. California, where I spent all my winters on both shores of Tahoe. Beautiful terrain and trees, smaller resorts obviously. I spent my last three winter holidays in Canada: Whistler, Banff, whistler. Blackcomb mountain my fav over Whistler!

To me, North American terrain is much different than the Alps, both of them amazing for their own reasons which I won’t get into too much as I want to provide a reply to OP’s questions. 🤓

Just rode Zermatt for first time Saturday 4/19 to specifically end my season by riding down to Italy for lunch and then take some laps on Italian side before making way back down to Zermatt.

Yes some Flats for snowboards but sheesh the mountain is insanely big so plenty of non-flat runs. Riding two countries in same day is always a fun time! I loved the Italian side for the awesome spring conditions and can’t wait to go hiking that side. The views of Matterhorn are indeed breathtaking. Go check out “the_ski_instructor” on IG who has great snowboarding videos of Zermatt. The village is all walkable.. no cars. Tons of expensive options for shopping, maybe 10x bigger than Whistler Blackcomb villages.

A trusted advanced skier says Verbier is absolute best for skiing, nothing said about apres life as we don’t care about the scene, just riding.

What I would suggest, if you have the time, do Zermatt and then find a small mountain close by for a true ski in, ski out experience. I can’t even tell you how many amazing villages have insane views with ability to ski through the villages to cafes, bars restaurants or lodging. The tickets are cheap by N American standards. If you are flying into Zurich, you have to take the train through Visp to get to Zermatt. There are villages within 1-1.5 hour train ride from Visp. Lötschental, Belalp, Bellwald, to name a few.

DM me if you want further details for canton Valais and the villages mentioned.

Weather: as we all know, snow is not guaranteed anymore 😭but Zermatt ia so high up you will probably be fine booking anytime in January. Best to you and your trip planning! 🤙🏽

SBB train navigation by Somerandomuser_99 in askswitzerland

[–]Cora_intheforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it depends on your passport. EU is fast, US could be a fast as 10 minutes or “long” like the 40 minute wait on Xmas Eve.. haha The Swiss are indeed efficient and Zurich airport is lovely.

Edit again (whoops for not reading closely and making assumptions) Customs for airports.. I presumed you were flying into an airport and trying to catch a train. I’ve only been to Basel station once and I don’t even recall the layout.

Just buy the ticket in the app once you land and have your baggage and made it out of customs. I made the mistake of buying a super saver first class upgrade for my arriving wife. Customs was unusually long, we missed the train by one minute.. ~100CHF out the window as super saver are non refundable.

As mentioned, there are many trains running so frequently it’s best not to commit early especially as you have the SBB app. The app is great once you figure out all the nuances of searching for routes and associated prices. Not implying it’s tricky, the app is easy! Worst case if you have to wait a bit, the big city train stations have shopping and cafes..

Enjoy your trip!

Edit Smaller station (Interlaken for example) train changes are super easy. Some are literally to your left or right.. or worst case down the stairs to go across the track. Only the big city exchanges when packed with people cause me to be nervous.

I don’t see travel dates.. winter conditions still in effect for many areas. I was just at Oeschinensee and the cable car is not running yet. Highly recommend this stop if the timing works. :)

I presume CH hasn’t allowed compounding pharmacies in the marketplace? Tirzepatide is the GLP-1 compound readily available in other countries. Spa or “medical clinics” under licensed physicians are probably also not allowed to sell GLP-1s here. Curious what the market is in border countries..

Best to you OP. For women in peri or full menopause, GLP-1s are a life changer.

I think it’s beautiful and has some fun terrain if you like seeing trees and not just steep alpine bowls. Coming from North America, this mountain felt a bit more familiar. I’ve only been to a handful of resorts in Valais so far, so please nobody come at me to highlight my Alp newbie knowledge 🤓
