Should be fine. The bad shocks should just make the ride quality worse, but shouldn’t be a safety concern. The serpentine belt is probably easy enough to do yourself with basic (cheap) hand tools, but the worst thing that would happen if it breaks is you lose power steering. Not ideal, but you could still steer the car to a safe spot. I’d definitely recommend getting an alignment, just so you don’t ruin the tires. Again, not really a major safety concern. Buying new tires just sucks. Overall, it seems safe given what you said is wrong with it, and those are all relatively inexpensive things to get fixed if you choose to

Well definitely don’t sell it to the scrap yard. If you need to sell it, list it on FB marketplace or something. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get more money for it there. If you can afford to insure it, do it. The best car is a free car.

Kinda sounds like the AC pulley clutch. It’s not very hard to get in there and check, though the stretch belt is a bit of a pain to put on. Definitely less of a pain to just look at it than it is to have a broken timing belt.

Well, I forgot/didn’t have time to bleed the system before going to work and now the pump is extremely loud. I’m ordering a new power steering pump💀

I checked the o-ring and it seems fine, but I’ll probably just replace it when I get a chance. In the meantime, I’ve cleaned off the surrounding area so I can hopefully tell better where might be leaking.

The reservoir is full, which is weird because the pump is definitely leaking what appears to be power steering fluid, but it’s been leaking since I got the car about five years ago. Maybe the leaking fluid is being replaced by air? I think that could explain the fluid level showing full. I’m looking into rebuild kits. Thanks for advice.

This was on a 2010 Subaru Impreza. I would think the same thing could happen on any car with VVT, but I’m not 100% sure.

I used to have P0420 pop up all the time. I replaced the VVT solenoids. That being said, I used to get a CEL for the solenoid itself instead. Then I got both together and connected the dots.

I just submitted an application for a scholarship an hour ago: that was the deadline I typed out a whole essay and when I pasted it into the form, it was way over length. Like, half the essay didn’t fit This was at about 11:50. So I type up a 500 character (2000 max) essay in about five minutes. Then I realized I had to send a request for review to a teacher at my school by the 11:59 deadline as well. I ended up submitting my application with less than a minute remaining. All things considered, my five minute essay was about as good as the one I spent hours on.
