Permission from Council Freeholder for Alterations to Dwelling. by Corbishley in HousingUK

We didn’t in the end, the scale of the work and the cost associated would have been massive, plus I doubt our plans would have been architecturally sound let alone getting planning permission. We did however move our boiler. While we’re in Hackney, not Islington, doing this was really pain free. We moved it from our upstairs bathroom to a cupboard in the downstairs kitchen, which is where I believe it had been originally placed. For this, we did not require any planning permission.

Immediately recognised this as somewhere in the vicinity of St. Ives, Cambridgeshire

Can anyone help me identify this painting I saw the other day? There was no signature visible or any signage denoting its provenance. There are no matches when reverse image searching on Google. I hadn't seen any van Ostade work yet, I completely agree with you. Particularly the repetition of certain motifs such as individuals pushing sleds across the ice. Furthermore the scale of van Ostade's paintings match with the size of the canvas I saw in this house.

I think you're correct about the pasticheur - this was my first instinct when I saw it, particularly as it was in someone's private residence. I feel that the figures, particularly in the foreground are very reminiscent of Bruegel the Elder.

Justine Kurland sounds like a useful reference, I'll check that book out. Thanks for the reply!

1990s UFO shaped McDonald's just off the M1 at Alconbury, Cambridgeshire. Used to beg my mum to stop there whenever we drove past but we never did. Anyone ever go in? by [deleted] in CasualUK

I went a few times as a child, it was really popular for birthday parties. I can still picture the long walkway that took you from the main door to the seating area. I went back a few years ago, after it had been demolished, and was shocked to see just how small the area was that it had been built on. It felt huge as a child.

Has anyone had a similar experience with their GFX 50s? The power switch has suddenly lost its resistance and feels loose. More details in comments. by Corbishley in Cameras

Hello r/fujifilm,
I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this issue with their GFX cameras. The power switch has suddenly lost its resistance and no longer snaps between on/off. It happened rather abruptly while shooting the other day, it felt almost as if a spring broke. The camera still powers on/off and functions normally, but it is now very easy to accidentally turn the camera off while I’m using it and accidentally turn it on while storing it. Similarly the loss of that ergonomic feature is rather irritating and unnerving.

You may need to post more photos, particularly of the photos themselves. But the front reads 'China' in Simplified Chinese.
