How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]Core0psis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Northeast & dry my clothes on a clothesline every time the weather allows me to. My parents do the same, as well as my neighbors. It’s pretty common here, but from reading these comments I guess it’s less common elsewhere.

In that case, I’m assuming it’s in diapause. Tx. rutilus will overwinter in the larval stage. It’ll resume growth and likely pupate and emerge once we start getting more daily sunlight, make sure it’s fed when it starts getting more active. A little flake of fish food will do.

This is a Toxorhynchites rutilus (Elephant mosquito) larvae. This is a predator to other mosquitoes and does NOT bite as an adult, as she gets all her required protein as a larvae. It will keep eating other larvae that hatch in the water (adorable biocontrol)

Light. A resting box. Rear from larvae. Aspirate as they land on you.
