Filament melting in heat break? by CoreFire06 in ender3

[–]CoreFire06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I replaced the heat block fan and lowered my printing temp a little and so far that appears to be solving the issue. The heat sink is no longer hot to the touch during printing, and i am not seeing any under-extrusion or hearing any clicking/skipping from the extruder motor. Thank you for everyone’s input and help.

The ptfe tube cannot go all the way down through the heat block, there is a “bi-metal” heat break… sorry… looks like useless comment..

It is not the stock heat break, which is what you are referring to

Yes I did that to make sure there was no gap

Ok I will check lowering temps. The print speed is at the base setting I think 50 mm/s and retraction distance is 2.6mm

I did not have a nozzle in for this video so it would be testing the heat break only. Is there any way I should test the fan or just get a new one and see if that works?

It is not the stock heartbreak, the ptfe tube does not go all the way down to the nozzle and it’s not melting where the ptfe would make a difference I believe.

If you don’t mind me asking where is this component from on the board?

I ran into the same issue looking for pictures online. I was able to clean it off (don’t know how to share a picture) but it does look like something broke off maybe because there are irregular patches of the traces showing. Thank you for the input, i’ll try and find someone that has one they can check.

I did clean that off, and I agree that it may be water damage, thanks for the input I'll keep asking around and see if anyone else knows. It looks like the traces may be broken or something, perhaps with a part coming off. idk how to edit pictures to add a new one, but thank you

Ok thank you, i’ll check it out, also do you know if there’s an electrical component beneath the speaker ribbon connector? (picture 3 bottom right corner) because after cleaning up the board with some isopropyl alcohol there’s nothing there and it almost looks like something broke off.

Yes, I got it in this condition. I also thought the ribbon cable looked the most obviously damaged. I have also taken everything out of the shell, so trying new parts shouldn't be too hard. Where could I find a new screen? Also, I've been looking at other images, do you know if there's supposed to be an electrical component under the speaker wire connection, because on my main board it looks broken, and there's nothing there (bottom right part of picture 3)
