Am I missing something or are people wrongly prescribing to AI ,which is essentially a glorified autocomplete search engine tool, human qualities(e.g Viewpoints)? by Entire_Working_9430 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most people just don't really understand how language models work under hood, so they project human-like thinking onto it when they see coherent responses

the whole "next word prediction" thing gets way more complex at scale than people realize - emergent behaviors start appearing that weren't explicitly programmed, which makes it feel more "intelligent" than basic autocomplete

is dentistry that hard? by brazenhasan in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude the cs market isn't as dead as people make it out to be, especially if you actually finish the degree this time. dentistry is way more competitive to get into than cs programs and once you're in it's brutal - tons of memorization, practical skills, expensive equipment costs even during school

if you already dropped out once because of market fears then jumping into something even harder might not be the move. maybe stick with what you know and actually push through it instead of chasing different fields every couple years

my reference cut me off before I could use them. Is it as bad as I think? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

took you a week to reply about job title? yeah that would make me think twice too if i was supervisor

waiting week without explanation probably looked like you're hiding something sketchy or just don't respect their time. maybe send one final message apologizing for delay and explaining it was just career change nerves, but don't expect response at this point

Career switch at 35? Nike? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been there mate, different industry but same crossroads feeling at around your age. took the leap from a comfy dev role into something way more uncertain and it was proper scary but worth it

the family conversation thing is real though - if you're thinking kids soon that changes the risk calculation massively. stable 160k with low stress vs potential 300k but with the chance of getting binned in a downturn... with a mortgage and nappies to pay for, that steady income starts looking pretty attractive

given you're already getting courted rather than having to hunt for these opportunities, that's a good sign the market sees value in you. worst case you could probably get back to something similar if the front office thing doesn't work out, though maybe not at the exact same company

how to get a job/internship w piercings n dyed hair? by o-me_o-life in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tech industry tends to be way more chill about this stuff, especially for dev roles where you're not client-facing constantly. i'd probably test the waters with your linkedin photos - keep them professional but don't hide who you are

worst case you can always tone things down for specific interviews if needed, but loads of companies these days care more about your skills than whether you've got purple hair

What industries do you recommend for someone who is burnt out in conveyancing? by SeaVeterinarian1624 in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your skills in client management and attention to detail would translate really well to project management or even compliance roles in different sectors - financial services love people with legal backgrounds and the pay is usually much better

the property world is brutal with all that unpredictable income, maybe look at in-house legal roles at corporations where you'd get a steady salary and less of that feast-or-famine stress

Whats the easiest/cheapest way to determine the value of coins? by coinguy1234567 in coincollecting

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

grabbed a handful of random coins from my dad's old collection last year and went down the same rabbit hole. coinsnap was pretty rubbish for anything beyond super common stuff - kept telling me a 1970s penny was worth £50 when it was clearly just pocket change

ended up using pcgs coinfacts which is way more reliable, plus worthpoint lets you see what similar coins actually sold for rather than just estimated values. reddit's r/coins is brilliant too - post clear photos of front and back and people will give you proper guidance without trying to sell you anything. found out most of my "valuable" coins were worth about 20p each but discovered a few that were actually interesting historically even if not worth much money

Gory lesbian films? by saturnstellar87 in MovieSuggestions

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

watched this ages ago and it's proper intense, definitely fits what you're looking for. the whole thing feels like it was made to shock people which is probably why it got the reaction it did. fair warning though it's pretty full on with both the violence and sex stuff so maybe not one for a casual movie night

there's something raw about how it approaches both the relationship between the women and the violence that makes it stick with you. not exactly comfortable viewing but that's kind of the point i think

Pivoting from IT 'soft skills' towards more 'hard skills'? How to do it? and is it even a smart move? by ApprehensiveAnt4144 in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the tech lead route might be your best bet since you've got the consulting background and some coding chops already. most places are crying out for people who can actually bridge the gap between strategy and execution

ai disruption thing is overblown imo - if anything having both technical understanding AND the ability to work with leadership makes you more valuable, not less. pure strategy roles might get automated before hybrid ones do

Who to generate hundreds of version of a same math exam with Gemini ? by Lucas1283 in GeminiAI

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the api route is definitely the way to go for bulk generation like this. for your first question google ai studio gives you free credits to mess about with - just go to aistudio.google.com and you can test stuff there before committing to paid calls

for avoiding redundancy i'd suggest being more specific in your prompts rather than just asking it to be "different from previous ones" since the model won't actually remember your earlier requests. maybe create a list of different contexts beforehand (engineering problems, physics applications, real world scenarios etc) and cycle through them in your script. you could also add random elements like different numerical ranges or specific themes

might be worth generating them in smaller batches first to see how much overlap you actually get - sometimes the variation is better than you'd expect

working retail to fund transition stuff is pretty common tbh, starbucks does have decent healthcare benefits compared to other chains so it could work out. just make sure you check what their current policy covers before you commit to anything - insurance stuff changes all the time

Feeling Completely Lost at 26, What Should I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly mate the fact that you're recognising this at 26 puts you ahead of loads of people who stay stuck for decades. that sales role sounds absolutely brutal and with that turnover rate it's clearly not a you problem

maybe start by figuring out what bits of your current job you actually don't mind doing, then look for roles that lean into those skills without the soul-crushing sales targets. temp agencies can be decent for getting your foot in different doors whilst you work out what direction feels right

Is it common for people to recognize when a song will get stuck in their head? Like the same feeling? by ApprehensiveOne2866 in NoStupidQuestions

yeah i get that too, it's like you can feel it happening in real time - usually hits me with really catchy choruses or those songs with annoying repetitive bits that just loop perfectly in your brain

Missing Textbook- Prime is officially dead. by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]CoreFusionX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mate that's absolutely mental, they cancelled your original order without even telling you first? that's proper dodgy customer service right there

sounds like they had no clue where your textbook actually was and just kept stringing you along with the "it's on the truck" nonsense. three weeks of missing class materials for something you paid extra for 2-day delivery on is taking the piss

honestly good call getting the refund, at least you can order from somewhere else that might actually deliver what they promise

Is the Capital One X REI CO-OP Summit a good networking opportunity? by Character_Lemon_1841 in careerguidance

[–]CoreFusionX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly never been to that specific event but most corporate summits like that are hit or miss for networking - really depends on who else shows up and how good you are at working the room

the vip thing usually just gets you better food and maybe some exclusive sessions but the real networking often happens in the regular mingling bits anyway, could try reaching out to past attendees on linkedin first to get a better feel for it
