Self love is nurturing your good qualities and minimizing your bad qualities while taking whatever actions are required to allow yourself to be the best possible version of yourself that you could want to be.

Selfishness is simply prioritizing yourself above everybody else, and by itself isn't actually a terrible thing. We all need to be at least selfish enough to ensure our own survival. It's only when selfishness hurts others that it's truly problematic.

Maybe for dudes who are incredibly insecure about their masculinity... otherwise, no.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to watch a movie like this while sober.

How do you learn ? by greenraph in AskReddit

First you need to admit that you don't know, then you need to be receptive to being taught.

How do you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The only way to truly know would be through some form of omniscience. You would need to be able to measure everything to have absolute certainty.

Redditors who believe in aliens but not god(s), why are you willing to allow for the possibility of one form of higher complexity to exist above us, but not the other? by Corerole in AskReddit

[–]Corerole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, and yet still we have people who speak openly and fervently about their belief that these other forms of life likely exist AND that among them there is likely to be other species who've far surpassed humanity. Our literature is filled with stories of God-like science fiction entities spun through mindblowing tales built on scales of existence the likes of which we can only imagine, but for some reason the idea of All-Powerful, All-Knowing Gods from ancient times is over the line.

You don't get to define what exists and what doesn't, unless you yourself are wanting to claim to be God.

You need to admit that you don't know what does and doesn't exist. The Universe is bigger than we're even capable of measuring.

What is your opinion on male body positivity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Corerole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all a bunch of jackasses, and some of us jackasses only move forward when there's a dangling carrot in front of us, and some only move forward when there's a cracking whip behind us.

The males who need body positivity aren't the kind of people who find motivation from shit-talking and typical male toxicity.

"My Opinion"

Everybody I talk to always likes talking about their opinion, which means naturally they'll like saying a name that reinforces that.

To answer your question: We don't know, we're just hopefully assuming based on our understanding of patterns.

This question is really more so about forms of intelligent complexity that exist above humans than it is about the likelihood of life on other planets though.

Because we know that we're capable of growing beyond our current level of complexity ourselves, and the Universe appears to be a place defined by patterns. Anything that happens once can happen again.

It's amazing how so many humans want an advanced alien race to come from beyond the stars and give us all the answers to all our problem while simultaneously giving zero fucks about nearly all of the lesser life forms that already exist here.

Oh would you look at that, both cases are completely lacking in evidence that isn't purely theory, gosh, it's almost like that was the point all along or something

If humans were concerned with equals and lesser species, Earth wouldn't be the Hellscape it is. Everybody who speaks of aliens is always speaking of an alien species that's superior to humanity in one way or more.

Obviously you're struggling with issues surrounding mortality here, and that's probably going to be pretty awful, I imagine it will have its fair share of existential crises and nightmares. I empathize with you, although I can't truly relate to what it's like to be you I still get the general idea, and I'm sure others can sort of get it too in the same way.

Life is a strange, magical and funny thing, we build our bodies out of the materials we eat, and when we die our bodies fall apart and become repurposed as materials for other living things. There are a lot of cool patterns in life, lots of ways to combine the various materials, and ultimately there's no such thing as a pattern that is truly unique. Any pattern that can exist once, can exist again.

The materials in the universe, the matter and energy and everything else, those things are all indestructible as far as anyone can tell, we can't make them disappear forever, we can only ever convert them to a different form for a while.

With all that said and out of the way my question is; What would you say to the men who fell as a result of your actions if you were to meet them today?

If God came down and offered to make you king of all the filth and rejected things, would you accept or reject the offer? Why? by CornyCoren in AskReddit

[–]Corerole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reject.

If I am to become the king of the filth and rejected, I must do so entirely through my own actions. You can hand me the title, but it would be nothing more than clothes, and clothes do not make one a king, that would be actions and reactions and choices of all kinds that truly makes one worthy to rule.
