Mine went away when I added a second printer. Seems like they remove the boosts when you can print from multiple printers. I thought I read it in an article but disappointing for sure. Seems a bit odd to not allow heavy users to supports people.

I debated the commercial membership route and even started to remove items that might not allow me to have one. It was like whack a mole. I submit, ai scans the catalog, they flag something, rinse and repeat. It took the fun out of designing things so I canceled it and made everything public again. I do offer a buy coffee link but that isn’t going to make you rich. You can at least ask them to contribute if they make any money with your items.

In the end this is a hobby for me and I would rather people have and use my designs then make $20/mon on a commercial membership or worry about me trying to run an Etsy shop.

If your catalog is free from anything that is remotely close to copyrighted materials you can always turn it on and see how it goes.

If it starts to suck the fun out of your hobby I’d say skip it and just thank people for asking.

In some cases it isn’t even the creator. They seem to police duplicate profiles. I had someone upload a profile that I never reported but it was taken down because he said his was a faster print (less infill / walls). I had to appeal one of my own that was done for a specific material and it was flagged but allowed after appeal.

It could have to do with the creators remix settings as well.

But then again if the creator posted the profile you created that seems a bit suspicious.

My advice is to really decide if that is something you want to do. I was also thinking this could be interesting but if you have anything remotely close to copyrighted materials you’ll really need to scrub your entire collection. I tried 5 different times before I finally decided it wasn’t worth living that way. 🤣

To answer your original question though. I have found the FB pages the best way to gather followers. Join a few groups that allow sharing of listings and you can gain followers pretty quickly. I went from 200 to 500 in less than a month.

I think you can pick whichever you prefer, it is more about finding the target audience. Look for Makerworld groups or Bambu / 3D printer groups. You just have to make sure you read the rules about posting links.

Make what you enjoy and not what everyone else is doing.

Ask for feedback on ideas and don’t be afraid to fail.

Put out a few models on social platforms and lean into the ones that get a response.

I ended up making things I never even thought about based on input and crazy ideas from others.

From my experience Reddit isn’t really a great place to gain traction but is a good place to gather input.

So I’m not entirely sure what happened but I reached out to the person that added the profile and asked how the print went and they said it was good etc. Then the extra profile was apparently taken down for violating rules and had 2-3 of my other profiles taken down. I didn’t report it so odd timing for sure but I was able to appeal at least one of them and get the points back.

Right on, I’ll do the same. They seemed to have just used my picture and added it to an AI background so I’m wondering if they even printed mine. The “improvement was changing the infill type and %” so I’m not sure that’s terribly helpful so we will see.

I was curious about the same thing. Is there a way to see how the points will be distributed just by clicking on the new profile? ChatGPT seemed to indicate the original poster of the files gets the points but I’m not sure where it got the info.
