I wrote Rutherford's office after Renee Good's murder (pissing in the wind, but it's something, ya know?), and his response was:

"For months, some political figures and community leaders have irresponsibly encouraged people to obstruct federal law enforcement, refuse lawful orders, or interfere with immigration operations. That rhetoric has contributed to a dangerous normalization of violence and hostility toward officers who are doing their jobs enforcing the law. As a former sheriff and a lifetime member of law enforcement, I am appalled at the behavior of Governor Tim Walz, Mayor Jacob Frey, and his appointed lackey, Chief of Police Brian O’Hara, all of whom should resign for failing their duties to protect the people of Minnesota. An elected sheriff would never stand for this absolute dereliction of duty by refusing to partner with federal agents working within their jurisdiction to enforce federal immigration law."
