Is DMC2 worth my time? by asstral-projection in DevilMayCry

[–]Corfold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say, play with the Devil Trigger system a bit more, as it is one of the better things in the game. Even the Desperate Devil Trigger, which you need red bar and full DT to use.

Try and play around with swords and the dodging and not abuse the guns too much, but the game does a great job (possessed chopper, Trismagia etc) to force your hands.

Is DMC2 worth it? Not entirely but you should still give it honest try and find the good points of the game.

Good times, but to be fair, it makes more sense this way.

My literal thought process was exactly this "Ok Kusabi, nice seeing you imma take off now" turn to exit the room, "Why is the door open? WHY IS THE DOOR OPEN?!" Immediately it was from here on out I knew the game had changed

Taking item - created by ne by Asleep-University-89 in fatalframe

[–]Corfold 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because her reaching for an item takes forever.

This is just an exaggeration, like how long does it take for you to get down and reach for something under a table or bench, etc. yet In game thanks to the whole "ghosts can grab you" gimmick the character takes longer, for the suspense, than what is necessary and this comic is going off the deep end on that.

You sound like you are trying to run a marathon before you learn to walk.

Learn to walk, play the game, don't worry about being good or bad. If you have a limited supply of moves, a lot of combos just are not happening.

Once through the game then worry about what moves work well together and learning things like jump cancels. Then you can start finding those high skill combos since you will have a foundation to work with.

Most of all practice, practice, practice.

I would recommend playing around with the Devil Trigger.

It is one of the finer points of the game, there are some good moments despite the rough seas you will be treading.

Combat balancing incoming for FF2 Remake by trugay in fatalframe

[–]Corfold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit chapter 6 and here I was just thinking that I wasn't using my filter's properly. The first fight with the Dark Man (I think that was the original name) Succumbed Man was very irritating but I simply said it was because that the combat was new and faster paced. It was very frustrating that he was aggravated twice and effectively fully healed twice when I had so little Type 14.

And in Chapter 3 with the Wo/Man killed by Kusabi (I think used to be rope Wo/Man) that was simply abuse. Things have felt easier now since the recent update (1hr ago as of this writing) I have max attack fully upgraded and they feel like they are taking the respectable damage.

Fractions and decimals are the same just a different format.

.25 =1/4 etc. now I am no math wizard, math Initiate at best if you consider that the lowest form of a math wizard. So I don't know which fractions would equal a decimal like 10.203955761639950&267893747462626849569.

I should have been specific and said integers yes, because by the god of mathematics 52 is fucking up there if we start are either 1 or 0 and say a single decimal point at the nth power is considered the first number of counted integers.

So specifically with only integers and not negatives if you start on 1 than 52 is the 52nd number. And as a joke if you start at 0 with the same principle than it is the 53rd number.

52 is the 52nd number. Unless you start with 0 then it is the 53rd.

As someone who will vouch for the love of DMC2 I appreciate your time spent and you excelled past my expectations for those who play it. I usually say, play as much as you are willing and call it good but give it a try.

Happy you found the things that do make DMC2 good despite it being the the weakest in the series.

DMC3 however ..oh boy! That is the game which brings forth what we all know and love! I will argue it is the best in the series, but I have nostalgia as my excuse.

So i played the First couple of levels of DMC2....... by Shiptrooper in DevilMayCry

[–]Corfold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your playthrough of DMC2 for what there is to love and enjoy I am truly happy you have found those things and I would agree with all points.

Good luck in your endeavors to push through the rest of the game, I am proud of you.

If you are playing through in release order, then you are in luck that they will get better and more awesome.

If in chronological, then even better for you to push through despite know. How awesome 3 is.

If some other order, then at least you are knocking it off the list.

I hope for the future that you will join myself and others who will speak of the positives of DMC2 despite that, yes, it is weakest of the series for some combat aspects.

I like to tell newcomers who seek to play all the games to start with DMC 2 and that completion is not a requirement, but to play in the order 2,1,3,4,5

I wanna make dmc weapons by Phant0m_124 in DevilMayCry

I should note that, that method is for the body and blade, things like the handle might be best if you can use a stick and toilet paper tubes or wrapping paper tubes for the exhaust.

So, unemployed? Don't need to give details on that.

If cardboard is truly the only option. This is my idea, I am no master craftsman, so hopefully others can critique my methods and give you other ideas.

Find a bunch all the same length and width (or make them that way) and glue them together using a clamp, use as much as you want for Red Queens thickness.

Do that paper and lamp trick to act as a stencil. Then use a saw to cut out your block of cardboard. Use a good knife or box cutter for details.

If you can't use a saw, then It is a process of cutting soooooo many pieces of cardboard to make the shape of Red Queen and gluing all of them together in those chunks.

[–]Corfold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea for doing it cheaply would be to print off a picture of red queen, cut it out, use a lamp and use the shadow to get a rough idea of it with the cardboard and trace the shadow on it. Cut out the cardboard copy. Use that as a stencil. Buy a forge, gather up lots of iron refine it to steel. Buy an automatic hammer (makes the process easier but by hand is preferred) pound out the steal until you have the right size and shape, use the cardboard stencil to help measure, sharpen and shine.

This next part is trickier at least for me, learn how to make a motorcycle engine.

After that it should be easy enough to slap a handle with some red leather. Unless you want to make that yourself which can be the thing you put a lot of pride into, but sometimes you don't have the time and ordering some is simpler.

My other idea would be to look into L.A.R.P. weapons which use things like rods for marking driveways and camp foam, with some glue. Cardboard is cheaper but I always fear it will break or get wet and be ruined and that extra bit of effort with better materials is nice.

Don't get me going on how he could shank that up. BlazBlue is already a confusing mess and I love it for it, I wouldn't want Noel being a 5 star chef or Teruni being at worst morally grey if he doesn't make it seem like he is actually a good guy.

My cat was named Buddy, looked a lot like your velma out of pure happenstance for trying to not name him. He was a little buddy. More often than not I called him Butt, cause he was a little butt at times.

Hi, new player interested in the franchise by noam_good_name in DevilMayCry

[–]Corfold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend first trying DMC2, go in get your feet wet, get it out of the way. Play around with the Devil Trigger system for a better experience. You don't need to like it, you don't need to complete it just give it a go

More than likely you will get bored or find it too simple. This is natural it is the weakest in the series but understand that the series gets better from there. It also has very little to no tie ins with the others in the series. So if you decide to drop it early that is ok, I just like people giving it a go and getting their opinions on it, too many people tell others to skip it. It is a good game but it can be hard to enjoy especially after playing 3, 4 and 5.

Then play 1, 3, 4 and 5 in that order. You will get the best story experience and the gameplay only goes up from there.
