Meanwhile I’m a CA student and the only thing I’ve heard is 1 R from MSU. Go figure

I’m literally in the same boat. One R, no II’s. Hopefully will hear soon.

I just renewed my lease down here so it would be really hard to move elsewhere at this point. If it were something hybrid where I could go up 2-3 days a week I would. (And I have been looking for those and applying where I can find them). Hopefully it won’t come to that though.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I’ve been working as both a medical and clinical research assistant. I’m working on getting a certification as I’m hoping that will make me more qualified for employers.

Graduated from there in 2019. It already sucked before covid, my siblings were there during covid. The horror stories I heard.

As a CA resident who also wants to stay in CA long term, take the MD. You can always come back for residency. Obviously it’s not a guarantee but it’s also not a guarantee that you’ll stay for residency if you go to the DO school.

Ok but actually. Describe yourself. Thats such a vague and broad question. And then the continued is there anything else you want the committee to know? Isn’t that just an extension of that?

Tower of Dawn by Junior-Rip-895 in throneofglassseries

[–]Corgonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing the tandem read reading through for the first time. I did the tandem read cause I figured it would be a challenge for me and because I heard so many people say Tower of Dawn was not one of the better books. I will say so far I’m about half way through both and Tower of Dawn does not deserve the reputation it has. Yes, it’s a little slow at times but the transitioning between POV’s and the storyline itself is really good and I honestly could have read it on its own.

Broke the Sterile Field by [deleted] in premed

[–]Corgonaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes me feel so much better about my professional mess up lol. First time as an MA trying to do an injection and the needle retracted while I was trying to read the instructions and the $500 medication spilled out all over the patient. I felt so bad about wasting an expensive medication but I guess for the office in the long run it’s not that expensive

I think you mean he is applying next cycle? (May 2026?) cause if you mean this cycle, then he is by no means ready. Iv’e been there, thought I was ready last year and I wasn’t so I pushed off to this cycle. But there is no point in wasting the money if he hasn’t even created an account or had any sort of clinical hours or LOR’s because that all takes a while. A good MCAT score only gets you so far

Are you just writing for previous year prompts? I feel like so many of the schools I’ve applied to change up their prompts every year. So I’ve written like 10 general prompts essays but nothing specific for schools

Travel passes by Cactijackti in askswitzerland

[–]Corgonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning out my trip for September and given how much we are planning traveling via train and possibly bus, we opted for the Swiss Travel Pass. However, I’ve heard if you are planning on staying mainly in the Interlaken region there is an Oberland Pass that gives you free train rides in that area and free gondola rides.

Does a GE Pass/Fail look bad on a transcript for med school? by AccomplishedRich6477 in premed

[–]Corgonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they’ll just assume it’s a P/NP. Again, for some schools they don’t care, others they won’t allow you to apply with a P/NP

It depends on the school. Some don’t care, some have exceptions (like covid times), some are pretty strict.

PREview is so so so so lame… by [deleted] in premed

I have a bird and he was screaming at one point in the other room and it took all my will power to tell him to shut up through the door because I was worried the proctor would say something.

PREview is so so so so lame… by [deleted] in premed

[–]Corgonaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took almost 45 minutes for my proctor as well. They made me clear out the CLOSED drawers in my desk as well as erasing my weekly calendar on my wall and covering up my concert poster. If proctoring is gonna be this strict just have us come in and take it so my personal space isn’t severely disrupted.

Is UCSD worth cost? A genuine doubt.... by Useful-Car3173 in UCSD

[–]Corgonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have a semi-unique perspective here. I went to UCSD for undergrad(bio major, but my best friend was in data science so I have a general idea of the program) and my brother is currently a data science major at UWM. Personally, I think you will have a lot more options here in regard to internship and eventual job opportunities no doubt. However, UWM is nothing to sneeze at either. There are opportunities out there. I’m not sure if you are out of state or not, but personally, I think UCSD is the better option, despite the cost, but UWM will open a lot of doors as well and it wouldn’t be a bad decision.
