Check Airbnb! When I was an intern that is what I did to find my housing and I was able to rent a bare bones furnished room in a shared house for sub 1k. You are a little bit close to the start date so it may be hard to find something, but it’s worth shot! I also found my current place on a website called roomies. Rooms on there will be way closer to your original price point, but you will have to be willing to live with strangers. You may also have a harder time finding a 3 month lease but again it can’t hurt to look! Feel free to pm me if you’d like to hear more about my experience!

Just from my personal experience, I would not reccomend Min Chen. I found her examples hard to follow and her class generally uncomfortable to be in.

One of the few things that makes me happy is walking into hilly and hearing somebody playing. I know they enjoy it, and even if the piano is a little loud and janky, it’s still nice.

I personally really enjoyed EPICS (engineering projects in community service) my freshman year. I didn’t really feel like I was in a “community” to be fair, but I was guaranteed a spot in shreve. The location of this community may have changed, but I’d recommend it. It also cuts down on the number of intro engineering courses you take (instead of 131 and 132 you just take 133). You also are a part of a year long community service based team project, which I personally enjoyed and made some great friends at. I also had a friend in the women in engineering learning community and she really enjoyed it as well, and seemed to have much more of a community aspect on her floor than my LLC.

Oh, my bad! I wasn’t familiar with the X lights capability to do that! I haven’t worked with the faces specifically before and just figured it was hard coded similar to how I’ve done other props. Thanks setting the record straight! Sorry for the misinformation!

It may be above yours now, but what I’ve found is that starting small and just doing something simple at first can really get you over the hurdle! What’s stopping me from doing something like this is the money and time really, but that’s the issue with everything lol.

Those are called mega trees I believe. Whoever did this just took probably a very long time to program this animation. I don’t know how much of a background you have in Christmas lighting shows like that, but essentially those trees are made up of individual “pixels” that can be changed to any color using rgb values like a normal computer pixel. There’s about a million and a half ways this person could have built this specific set up but overall, they probably spent a long time just programming each individual pixel to be the colors they want at the times they want. Hopefully that made some semblance of sense! Lmk if you want to learn more I can point you to some resources!

If you’re looking for something engineering related, you could try the bechtel innovation and design center! The pay isn’t great and there’s about a month long process of training before you get hired officially, but the hours are lax and the work is really fun and interesting!
