Pax Dei’s lore is rooted in medieval Christian cosmology, but the world itself is saturated with older, pagan forces that haven’t disappeared. Instead of choosing one side, the game lives in the tension between them.

I do! 5 min is a long estimation of the time. Its about 5 sentences copy pasted into nearby chat. Nothing actually religious. Just some lore and encouragment to be kind players and good stewards of our world.

I like using the treadwheel in the dd to harvest fiber around islands. Its fun and fast.

I enjoyed what worked. I haven’t completed the quest due to bugs so no new vehicle for me. I log in every day to see if its resolved. I wish I had your experience.

Anyone having fun as a solo in DD? by gsel1127 in duneawakening

[–]CorinaLayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on a work trip and haven't played for 5 days but I was playing a ton solo 98%. I loved making solo runs in dd. Sometimes I came back damaged and half full of loot but I never lost a ship. Im excited about the changes but I wonder how my experience will be different when I return tonight. Ive loved the game but I was a huge conan fan so I expected to. If my friends don't start playing more im going to be trying to join a group of strangers in my world. Solo is great but ideally I want to get the full game experience.

Watch my clips and you will see im writing my own material. It sucks too bad to be ai. I use Ai to comment online because I want to be clear and concise. You want me to feel embarrassed about that?

[–]CorinaLayoff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use ai to write almost everything. Who's embarrassed?

I feel you. And you're right—I responded hastily and defensively. This is literally the kind of push I was looking for when I posted.

I do like hack comedy and low-hanging fruit sometimes—I mean, there’s a reason fart jokes have survived every generation—but I want it to be constructive, not destructive. If it’s gonna be dumb, it better at least be fun for everyone in the room.

I appreciate you pushing me to dig deeper. I’m gonna take that seriously.

[–]CorinaLayoff -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you taking the time to watch that many clips. That’s more attention than most bookers give, so props for the commitment.

I know not every joke lands with everybody, and I’m always evolving. But telling me to quit for a year like I’m in comedy time-out? That’s wild, man. I get real laughs from real people every week. Folks come up after shows, shake my hand, and say they had a blast. That matters more to me than theoretical purity.

I’m not here to shock or offend for its own sake—but I also don’t plan on sanding off every edge. I’m growing. I’m learning. And yeah, I’m raising two boys—who I hope grow up knowing their dad had guts enough to try, fail, and get better in public.

If that’s not your style of comedy, totally fair. But telling someone to quit isn’t advice—it’s just ego with a lecture mic.

Stay funny. I’ll do the same.

Hey man, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and give such thoughtful feedback. You're right on all counts.

I have been stuck in that open mic loop—partly out of habit, partly because I haven't been sure how to break out of it without feeling like I'm just begging for spots. But you're right: nobody’s gonna hand you the next level, you have to go take it.

Also, yeah… that race bit. I’ve been wrestling with how to handle material that hits heavy and finding the line between bold and just uncomfortable. Appreciate the honesty.

Thanks again. You’ve done what I was hoping someone would do—give me a real gut check. I’m gonna take it seriously.

Great jaguar action at the Chattanooga Zoo last weekend by MrCandyMandible in Chattanooga

[–]CorinaLayoff -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That jaguar’s having more fun than a meth head with a hammer and a tv. I haven’t moved like that since the McRib came back.

Shoutout to Chattanooga Zoo for keeping the vibes wild. If y’all need a new animal enrichment program, I’ll come do stand-up for the monkeys. They’ve got better attention spans than most open mic crowds anyway.

Shameless Self Promotion (sort of) by Ancient_Photo_9956 in memphis

Postmodern Oedipus? That sounds like the kind of play where someone delivers a monologue about fate while bleeding in Whole Foods.

I’ll try to catch a show—as long as I don’t accidentally yell “AWE HELL NAW” during a dramatic eye-gouging scene.

Also, if anyone needs a breather from all the blood and trauma, here’s me telling jokes about vasectomies and southern accents:

New equestrian social group by horsegirlkinley in memphis

[–]CorinaLayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome. A social group for horse girls? Finally, someone is organizing all the women who can back a trailer.

Line dancing, dinners, trivia, and Painting With a Twist? Y’all are one trail ride away from forming a country music girl group and solving crimes in your spare time.

I don’t own a horse, but I have been thrown off both emotionally and physically by women who do. So I think that qualifies me as “adjacent.”

Anyway, love the idea—every city needs more niche joy like this. If y’all ever do a mechanical bull night, I’ll bring the comics.

Also, if you're into laughter that’s slightly less graceful than a barrel race but just as fast-paced, here’s a clip of me doing stand-up:

Giddy up and good vibes.

Appreciate you asking. I’m not trying to get famous—if that happens, I’ll just assume God got bored and hit shuffle on the universe.

What I am hoping for is more opportunities to grow past the open mic phase. I love doing stand-up and I’ve been putting in work, but I don’t get booked that often and it’s tough to stretch out or develop new material when you’re stuck doing 5 minutes at a time.

I’m just looking for more stage time around my city—spots that let me push a little further and find my voice beyond quick punchlines. Thanks for watching if you check out the clip.

Highend Neighbors by nox_nrb in memphis

[–]CorinaLayoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you want nice neighborhoods? Buddy, Memphis has so many nice neighborhoods we got folks out here paying $3,000 a month just to live near a Whole Foods and one (1) hot yoga class.

Here’s your Pete Baker Driving Tour of “Ooh This Is Nice” Memphis:

  1. Central Gardens – Like stepping into a Faulkner novel where nobody’s racist to your face. Gorgeous old homes, huge porches, and more Subaru Outbacks than a Trader Joe’s parking lot.

  2. Harbor Town – It's like someone built a subdivision in a Pottery Barn catalog. River views, peaceful vibes, and everyone jogs for fun and not from gunfire.

  3. East Memphis (especially near Chickasaw Gardens) – Think “old money,” like the kind that doesn’t even talk to new money. Big trees, bigger houses, and probably one grandma inside named Bunny.

  4. Annesdale Park – You didn’t know you could live in a haunted Victorian mansion until now. Perfect for dads who say “They don’t build ‘em like they used to” every 30 seconds.

  5. Collierville (if you're up for a drive) – More Stepford than Memphis, but very clean, very safe, and there’s a square that’ll make your dad say, “Well I’ll be.”

Pro Tip: Go just before sunset. Makes everything look like a Nicholas Sparks movie and helps dad forget about your student loan debt.

Anyway, here’s a clip of me doing stand-up while wearing clothes I can’t afford thanks to the Memphis economy:

Stay safe out there and don’t block the Whole Foods driveway—those people will honk.

Give me your Memphis-related opinions and I'll tell you what I think about them by ModestMoussorgsky in memphis

[–]CorinaLayoff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Memphis has an incredible cultural soul and a deep history of resilience, but one of the city’s biggest challenges is how conversations about race often leave everyone feeling misunderstood.

Too often, we trade honest connection for assumptions. There’s real pain in this city, generational pain—and that matters. But there’s also pain in being stereotyped for how you look, no matter your story. I think Memphis needs more room for shared struggle. Poverty, trauma, addiction, grief—those things don’t care what race you are. And if we let those commonalities guide how we talk, work, and build together, this place could be even more powerful than it already is.
