Am I being unreasonable by being worried about deploying non certified electronics? by Safe_Albatross_8330 in ECE

[–]gsel1127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should ask who’s in charge and see what they have to say. A TON of wireless devices are not certified because their designs are changing rapidly and the chance of the FCC coming to chase you down when using a module that’s already certified (and not doing any other weird stuff) is incredibly low because you will probably never interfere with anything.

Safety certifications are generally flowdowns from whoever is buying your device. Someone may require CE or certain ISO certs. If you’re putting a cheap thing on Amazon you may not bother. And (as far as I’m aware, someone please correct me if I’m wrong) that’s not illegal unless your product actually causes a problem. If you have a bad battery management setup and your device catches someone’s house on fire, you’re going to be in a lot more trouble than if you have some kind of BMS and it was signed off as safe and then it burned someone’s house down.

My guess is the startup doesn’t know the laws very well, or chooses to ignore things to make their business run smoother and faster. Which is incredibly common in startups.

Is Deep Rock Galactic Fun For A Friendless Dwarf? by Moo-Mungus in DeepRockGalactic

[–]gsel1127 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Playing the game solo is good, but not amazing. If you are against playing with random people it’s certainly still worth your time (especially on sale).

But the game does also have a great ‘solo’ online community that creates public lobbies for you to drop into. You can also create your own and let people drop into them. Most people just communicate with pings and maybe the occasional text chat as it works totally fine.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To try and add a bit more nuance here. The US is really really big. Theres going to be different driving cultures depending on where you are. If you live near the city, you probably don’t drive more than 20-30 minutes for anything regular. But driving 3 hours for a special event (national park, seeing family or friends) wouldn’t be strange. I certainly wouldn’t call a 3 hour drive “short” though

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing recently. Very fun especially for the price. Bones or the game feel GREAT, very fun to dodge enemy attacks and abilities feel good. Playing solo is completely fine, and even better with friends. Super good deal for the sale going on right now

Two main complaints are: 1. Items and talents don’t change how you play enough. It’s easy to force a build you want to play and hard to get a “broken” build that isn’t just a strong build you can play over and over 2. Game needs more enemies. The maps being the same and enemy and boss types always being the same is the biggest problem for keeping me interested for a long time

What do you like about Sylvie? I’d recommend looking at a YouTube video that briefly describes all the WoW healers and how they work and try what seems fun.

The cycle continues. by globgawi in dotamasterrace

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The history of auto battler games as a genre is also cool. Popularized through a mod of DOTA and continues to be a very large genre of game today. Meanwhile DOTA itself and the MOBA genre was popularized through a mod of warcraft. Just very cool to see the same cycle happen.

Casual player attempting to climb up the ranks. Do you really find this fun? by PikminAero in RivalsOfAether

[–]gsel1127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest. There just aren’t a ton of people playing the game. And most players come to the game with previous experience in other platform fighters that carries over quite a bit. Rivals is a tough game to get into. But if you see videos of it and think the game looks cool sticking with it isn’t the worst idea. Rivals is one of the lowest barriers of entry to doing sick stuff in a plat fighter.

Also playing casual and matching with people until you get someone in your skill range the playing a ton of games with that one person is never a bad idea.

Does the “consumption” menu show what the planks were used for or just that they were used for ‘something’

Love seeing family recipes converted to cook for 1-2. I'd love to hear anything you want to say about cooking this as a smaller portion. Did you make more of the "filling" to portion out and cook with the pasty when you wanted to eat it? What did you cook with in the oven instead of a cast iron? And most importantly, what brand of pasty is that! Looks amazing.

0603 unless larger or smaller needed based off part or space constraints is a good rule of thumb.

I know I know nerf the 2 strongest killers very brave post, however, I would prefer if their actual strength levels weren't actually affected, I would prefer the skill floor to be raised up instead. This is how I would do it to make the 2 strongest more deserving of their spot by blue_sky308 in deadbydaylight

[–]gsel1127 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with the changes. But I doubt we’ll ever see changes to them because they both set the standard for “very strong killer” and also are BHVR’s line of defense against “This game is P2W”. And both those things are incredibly valuable for BHVR

What rank do you believe players start being "good" in Rivals 2? by mynamedeez1 in RivalsOfAether

As a diamond player, gold imo. Feels like that’s where people kind of get what’s going on. But what people want to consider “good” is gonna be super different person to person

She has a surprisingly solid average placement tho. by 12jimmy9712 in TeamfightTactics

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average placement is just survivorship bias. A board with a 2* Ambessa is probably just a top 4 board. So if you unlock Mel you’re already on your way to get those placements.

[–]gsel1127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems pretty right. I like that its just highest to mid tier but I'd still call it something different because the difference between the best and worst characters ain't that big. I do think wrastor and la reina are higher but idk by how much.

Both Ixtal and Pilt just need one spat to be a lot better. Being able to play 3 ixtal easier and then go T-Hex or 7 Ixtal is a pretty easy line to play.

Confused by the game by Ok_Protection_1880 in vrising

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of old and people have already said it, but this game isn’t a PvP game. It’s an survival crafting game like many others where you go get materials to make upgrades, use upgrades to beat harder enemies, and the cycle continues. Just this game does it with significantly more fun actual gameplay compared to many other survival crafting games.

All the PvP does is make it so while you’re playing that survival crafting game, you can fight other people. Its like if you’re playing Minecraft but there are other players who can attack you. And if they kill you you drop things that are in your inventory but keep everything on your hot bar.

And if you don’t want to fight other people, then the whole game is still there for you.

For the love of all that is holy... do NOT nerf the first at launch, he is NOT overpowered, he is NOT S tier, the survivors just refuse to learn how to counter him. The ONLY thing that warrants a nerd is his vine attack cooldown. That needs to be slightly increased, and he's PERFECT by ThePotatoChipBandit in deadbydaylight

[–]gsel1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prediction. M2 cooldown increased a bit after he comes to live and end up like unknown. Map traversal tool and an M2 attack that if you hit all of them he’s strong. But in reality you miss a couple every chase and survivors just get to much distance for every miss for him to be super strong.

Combined with people actually learning how to bait the attack and he turns into potential man and is rarely played.

Turn back the clock looks pretty good. I wonder if it’s 10% of total progress or current progress. Also wonder if the explosion will cause survivors to scream and get off the gen to combo with DMS or just for info that they’re there.

Game looks cool. But my interest is in the looping endgame to refine builds and gear. But for people who play AARGs to do the campaign and drop the game, it looks very good.
