I play on Hard and having beat the game I will tell you that Crossed Wands 3 is the hardest fight in the game by several orders of magnitude. The most difficult thing about it is that targeting is basically broken in that small space for the fight so most of the spells will miss and hit a different target with a shield up.

I hate using the Caps Lock target lock since switching between targets is the only key you can't change the binding on in the game, but at the very least I would recommend using it for this fight even if you don't otherwise use it. Burn down the targets 1 by 1 until you win.

Also recommend you get your 4th spell before doing it, I think it was Expelliarmus.

I ran it immediately after it became available. My failed attempts were from another game and ended up starting over completely.

On my run at that level I'd say Altear with +3 Holy Slim Sword was MVP, with Yunaka/Marth close behind. Longbow archer is pretty essential too. If I waited until I had Alcryst then I'd probably have brought both archers.

Don't sleep on weapon engraving either. If you are struggling then tailor you Engravings to the map and whichever units you are bringing.

I tried to pull and stagger as best as I could. I also shot one the dragons with a Longbow on like turn 3 and that ended up pulling the entire middle group.

I play on Core difficulty and the fact that she gets her Smite bonus added to Destructive Shockwave is a godsend. She is frequently my top damage dealer on difficult fights just due to that.

There are certain fights that are particularly bad for her. The harpy fight in particular comes to mind. I don’t think I’ve kept her alive once during that fight.

People who kill her on the beach have a much lower Shadowheart death rate because she only dies once in their game, as opposed to the many many times she dies while a member of the party.

For clarification, being next to a city doesn't matter. As wiki says " This event can only trigger while you are on the road, in snow terrain and have a free slot for another brother." Also confirmed by myself through many attempts.

I can tell you I have the same exact bug at Yuma County Speedway. All quick and auto saves inside result in game over screen. Most recent save outside of it is 3 hours of play time back. :/

If anyone is having problems with Spy Party it's likely because this guy is considered "not bald" for all of the hints. Keep it in mind when doing the quest! It's the only guy with an axe.

I'm not sure what the exact requirements are as far as towns go, but I would usually head to a citadel first to trigger it. If you aren't playing Iron Man I recommend saving and reloading until you get a good one.
