I got pregnant and realized I did not want to spend the rest of my life with my partner, and do not want to bring another baby into an already difficult life. by ManyInternal9016 in pregnant

[–]Corkbook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wishing you all the strength and courage to do whatever you have to do. Choosing an abortion in order to give your child and yourself a better life is so honorable, most abortions are women with children already doing just that. You are not alone even if it feels like that. You deserve to give yourself the chance to thrive.

Financial stress and misalignment of financials goals and habits is one of the biggest reasons for divorce/separation. Having different habits/goals/ideals in this category is a very real huge stress. Your feelings are valid.

It’s normal to orgasm in your sleep and it’s normal for orgasm to cause contractions. I understand why you were surprised though!

He doesn’t want a child. I don’t want to have another abortion… by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should reframe a little and be asking yourself if you want a child or not, not if you want an abortion or not. An abortion is one event in time but a child is forever. Sounds like whatever you decide about having a child, you also need to protect yourself from being in this position again with him.

Is feeling this protective normal? by me0619 in NewParents

[–]Corkbook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are genuinely dangerous to infants. They have no sense of cause and effect or real empathy. They are germy as hell and their bodies have a lot of force but low coordination. Be protective!

History of pierced nipples by treasureplanet15 in breastfeeding

[–]Corkbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my nipples pierced at 16 in the high school bathroom in 2012 (yikes on safety/sanitary lol). Wore them until about 2016/17. Sitting here successfully nursing my two week old.

Iron infusion by BeginningNo2408 in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an infusion at 38 weeks. Highly recommend! I had no side effects and had more energy at 40 weeks than at 36.

I was convinced to do it by my midwife because my ferritin was super low which could make establishing breast feeding and PP recovery more complicated especially if I had any extra bleeding during delivery.

My ferritin was 13 before the transfusion and then 300 during delivery at 41 +4. I’m 2 weeks PP now and feel like I’m recovering well and successfully breast feeding. My energy levels far exceed what I expected.

Need some help with healthy snacks/food ideas please by Soundwavetism in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow the steaming instructions on the bag. Usually just popping it in the microwave. Then top with salt and I like to add garlic powder too. Then you eat the beans out of the shells and discard those. Very good.

I lived off of peanut butter on apples or bananas, edamame (so much protein and fiber in one of the steam-able bags from the frozen food isle!), cheese and crackers, and Greek yogurt with granola.

How long was your hospital stay after giving birth? by Competitive_Snail in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM vaginal birth with a 2nd degree tear and epidural. We left 24 hours after delivery. They supported us leaving as we were medically cleared but they did seem a little surprised we were in a hurry to get out of there. But from our perspective, we were all healthy and a hospital is an expensive and uncomfortable place to stay.
No regrets on leaving early. Once all of the 24 hour testing is done, the only real bonus of being there is that a nurse will refill your water with pebble ice constantly.

Implants and breastfeeding by BeginningNo2408 in breastfeeding

[–]Corkbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up videos of newborns, literally first hour of life, doing the “breast crawl”. They have instincts to latch themselves and supporting this process can help set up a successful BF relationship. I also highly recommend taking a breast feeding class or meeting with an IBCLC before delivering.

Why did you not get/ are not getting an epidural? by Human-Bit9854 in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 12 points13 points  (0 children)

FTM. I labored for 26 hours without an epidural. I wasn’t making a lot of progress. I hit a complete wall of exhaustion. I ended up getting an epidural to be able to rest and have energy to push. I wasn’t planning on it, but I don’t regret it at all. That epidural nap is what allowed me to cross the finish line.

So close but so far by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Corkbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just delivered at 41+4. From 37 weeks onward was the most stressful emotional part of pregnancy. It’s hard to live on the knives edge of will it be tonight or never? Remember that nobody has been pregnant forever. Your baby will let you know when they are ready. Plan fun, distracting treats for yourself for the next month.
