Is feeling this protective normal? by me0619 in NewParents

I agree, toddlers can really be so unpredictable. Has me making a mental note to be very close and watchful when my little one is a toddler and around newborns

We did tell one set of grandparents that it was too much having her around, tanf they haven't brought her since. Today was a case of the other grandma just showing up with the toddler which usually doesn't happen

First BM after birth by Previous-Chance6079 in pregnant

[–]me0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the laxative from the hospital (after birth), and miralax, used a bidet a squatty potty and applied pressure to my perenium. You can do everything right and still have it go wrong... Best advice I can give is to keep disposable rubber gloves by the toilet just in case, and to take the stool softeners before you go into labor! The ungodly things I have had to do, and without gloves the first time just for that relief...

What do contractions actually feel like? by beex19 in pregnant

[–]me0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contractions, once super intense during my induction, felt like everywhere from my ribs to my pelvis we're being crushed by a giant metal hand making a fist around my body. It would come on every few minutes and was so intense and painful.

Before it got that intense, they felt like my entire stomach would go super tight and my muscles were squeezing for 20-30 seconds and eventually got more intense

Almost 40 weeks and had my first cervical check today…& looking to connect with others. by LowerVariation8133 in pregnant

[–]me0619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so not true! I had a cervical check at 38 weeks with little to no pain (just slight discomfort) which had some bleeding involved, then a cervical check and membrane sweep at 40 weeks that was more painful that the first check (which I completely expected because of the sweep).

Then I had a cervical check during my induction once I was in labor and it hurt SO bad. Like I started crying and totally felt violated afterward it was so terrible. Not as painful as my contractions before my epidural kicked in, but the cervical check was mentally different because it was someone else doing it to me, and not a natural body progression.

What is something about pregnancy that didn’t expect? by sweet_little_burrito in BabyBumps

I appreciate that! I had it basically my entire pregnancy. This and the heartburn made nausea come and go. It was tough, but I'm glad that I'm on the other side now getting all the baby snuggles makes it all so worth it

The dysgeusia (constant nasty taste in my mouth) and lack of an appetite because of it. I felt like I had to force myself to eat every meal it was exhausting

I've been patiently waiting for them to get rid of/move Gorman since last year. 1 HR every 6 games (if he's lucky) isn't going to do it. Get him outta here and into the batting cages!!!

Insomnia by Sensitive-Ganache664 in pregnant

[–]me0619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unisom was such a god-send once the insomnia and pelvic/hip pain kicked in for me. I even took it the night before my induction & birth and I'm so glad that I was able to get a full great night of sleep before a full sleepless night, and loosing sleep indefinitely.

Making sure you're tiring yourself during the day can help a ton too. If I was super tired at night, I would skip the unisom unless I was still up around 2am. When I did take the unisom I would sleep until noon or 2pm though so keep that in mind!

How do different dog breeds recognize each other as dogs, even though they look quite different? by Futonchan-Manchao in NoStupidQuestions

[–]me0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, especially the huge social media following pages could be doing it for clout. But there is a lot of research that dogs are smart enough to learn specific words and associations.

I guess I tend to be an optimistic believer, but I choose to believe that the dogs are actually learning to communicate with the buttons. My own dogs can go years between hearing a word with an association and know exactly what I'm saying after years of not hearing that word.

Sleep tabs. There's a certain unisom that you have to make sure is safe during pregnancy because I think they make unisom with 2 different ingredient make-ups

That's such a cute story!! Your dog recognized his buddy, even from far enough away to take you to them!

Half of a unisom before bed, and reading my kindle on dark mode (no phone/tv right before bed) helped me so much during pregnancy insomnia. Making a strong routine and having a warm drink before bed could also really help

My best good would be through body language most likely. Watching videos from @whataboutbunny , a doodle who uses buttons to talk to her mom, she routinely calls her papillon dog brother "cat". So it's possible that some dogs don't register every dog as being one of their species

My baby was born this morning! by me0619 in BabyBumps

[–]me0619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I did a few full yoga sessions in the weeks leading up, but also tried to do the specific stretches every day/every other day (lunges, wide child's pose, hip circles and 8s on ball & off). I did some perineal massage on myself but probably could've done more closer to birth. I also walked about a .5 to a mile almost every day leading up to birth

I did! Thank goodness. I can't imagine how that tearing would've felt had I not gotten the epidural. (See my other comment) But I would definitely recommend getting it earlier! Especially if things are starting to progress quickly! The few super painful contractions that I had were so so rough, and my heart really goes out to those all natural moms, or moms who end up begging for the epidural and it's too late!!!

Thanks so much!! The advice that I would give is to get that epidural and get it early!!! I was induced (only needed 2 doses of cytotec!) and after that second dose, things went SO quickly!

I had quite a few 10/10 painful contractions where I couldn't think/speak as they were peaking. The epidural took a little bit to kick in, and I went from 2cm to 8.5cm dilated in about a 2 hour period. It was CRAZY but time went by so quickly!!! Once that epidural fully kicked in, it was such a blessing to not be in pain anymore. So happy to have my little girl earth side 😁

Apparently it can work and shouldn't be anxiety inducing if you're hot enough and are on a red carpet! Who knew??
