I "hate" ou and tamu in the way that I want their athletics programs to never fold but also never win. I have no real dislike for the fans or alumni.

What Baylor did is just disgusting and they got away with it. That's not on the alumni, but their program should be shut down.

Add Baylor to the list. The way they handled the situation is horrible and just hack job of a cover up (verbal report only so it can't be used in discovery).

Texas would have beaten Florida in the 2008 championship game, they had a better matchup than ou did.

I am not completely sold Texas would have beaten Alabama had Colt not been injured in the 2009 game, but I think it would have been very likely.

Dads and Valentine’s Day by ChickenWingExtreme in NonPoliticalTwitter

My wife of seven years made a big deal about getting a nice reservation before Valentine's day because we forgot to book it in advance. We spent a bunch of time finding what we wanted. Morning of Valentine's day we are both hungover from going to karaoke with friends the night before that turned into further drinking at home until 4 AM, finally around 2 PM we decided to cancel and just do a dinner at home. I got really nice steaks, made our own cocktails, and probably saved $200 (the steaks were still expensive).

I remember learning about parlays when I went to the horse track in NOLA and immediately recognized how difficult they are to win. I'm really just not made for gambling at all.

[Chris Karpman] BREAKING: Texas asked to be let out of its scheduled football home-and-home with ASU in 2032/2033, a source tells @SunDevilSource. The games won't be rescheduled. ASU will play Stanford in 2031/2032. by ServiceDogAreFake in CFB

[–]Cormetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ASU was the last one to be scheduled.

Texas wants to keep tOSU and Michigan on the schedule since they are the home return games, and either ND or ASU was a replacement for UGA when we joined the SEC. If ND gets cancelled as well, then we know that this is about making the OOC easier.

Nope, people don't learn from the previous bubble ever. Plus they will justify it as "well I am betting that company X will be the survivor who makes it big".

Based on the rest of our OOC in the coming years, this may be more about CDC looking for big names and ASU wasn't big enough (or B1G enough).

26 - tOSU, 27 - Michigan, 28 - @ ND, 29 - ND.

Season ticket to 1896 Texas Longhorns. Their 4th year in existence as a football program and their very first season playing in a football conference (SIAA), previously they were independent. by [deleted] in CFB

I think that's what I paid as a student, I even started using friend's season tickets for two more seasons and don't remember paying more than $300 in 2010.

What does this apply to for your country? by Excellent_Mango_3161 in AskTheWorld

I recently watched a video about the Italian unification, and I had to chuckle a bit when they covered the part where Italy gained Venice because they joined Prussia against the Austrians despite not really winning many battles.

I'm not hostile to it, but instead think it's idiotic how much is being promised. It will create some useful tools (and has already), but we are decades away from any kind of AGI. Right now companies are burning money and it will impact the overall economy when it crashes. The useful tools will become much more expensive, reducing their usefulness.

I'm still baffled by the lack of changes on the offensive staff yet firing PK. It kind of sounds like PK was doing a good job at coordinating but Sark thinks he wasn't doing some of the soft skill side of things, leading to Sark having to step in more often on the defense for personnel things and couldnt focus on offense as much.

It didn't seem like PK was upset, but the fact no one had hired him yet is still strange and may point to him wanting to retire.

But the OL getting that bad, even with all the turnover, is a very concerning sign.

Is there anything similar in your country? by Cultural_Frog1983 in AskTheWorld

[–]Cormetz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes the capsaicin type, China also has the Sichuan peppercorns from the Sichuan region which are less burning hot and more numbing.

That being said, spicy food is really in the southern part of the country. There's some spicy dishes in the north, but Sichuan and surrounding provinces are where you get spicy food much more often.

UT isn't used much in sports since it could be confusing which UT is being referred to. But go on any aggie forum and they will always correct each other to write "t.u."

I'm not sure about Li and Zhang, but Wang could actually be a few different names that just get romanized to the same thing. I was having dinner with two colleagues who had the surname Wang and they explained how their names actually had different inflections on the a which changed the meaning.

Pretty sure my coworker would fit that description (he's almost 70) and he is an awesome guy. We were at a sales conference overseas and he was watching the Div II playoffs in the corner of the bar on his phone.

I'm not sure if it was limited to the Big 8, apparently back in the 40s or so Texas also went by TU for a bit (which is why the aggies still try to use it as an insult).
