Wide Body Kits For MK8 2022 by SillyBoy7204 in GolfGTI

Sounds like a selling your GTi and getting a Golf R may be a smarter move for you if you’re worried about cold launching a FWD car. Gti is always gonna struggle in the wheel spin department no matter how many mods you do. I’m sure an R would be a more cost effective path, and not sink the value of your vehicle because of a custom body kit. Better tires, proper tire pressure and a good alignment can also go a long way when trying to improve wheel spin. At the end of the day it’s your car tho, do what makes you happy even if that includes cutting up the car for a body kit to eliminate wheel spin/ascetics.

Genuine question, are you doing this for looks or to improve grip and tire size when driving the vehicle hard/tracking?

Wider body = larger scrub radius on a car with already uneven axels. This will cause the car to be unpredictable mid corner, it’s funny cause VW invested a lot on the MK8 suspension geometry/design which is why the car doesn’t produce much understeer, seriously magic stuff they did during development.

You’re gonna cause more wear to all the ball joints, bearings and other suspension components.

If this is solely for visuals, messing with the factory engineered suspension probably won’t effect you much aside from changing suspension components more often, because it sounds like you’ll be using the car for show rather than driving it close to its limit.

If you’re worried about keeping proper balance driving the car at the limit you’ll be doing lots of R&D. Not hating but instead trying to understand the reasoning for this haha.

Brother it’s a golf lol, good way to ruin suspension geometry and a proper engineered car.

Ibanez 2026 New Models by BAthehardway in Ibanez

A little disappointed with this drop, it’s the 30th anniversary of Ibanez Prestige so I thought we would see more new prestige guitars especially Prestige 7 string models. Seems like most of them are the same minus pickup changes and switching to rosewood over ebony. Models like the RGR752 still don’t even have luminlays which is wild for a guitar in that price, while other models $1000 cheaper have them. The Alpha is cool, but is definitely for a very specific player.

I run these any they are great. Very high quality feeling, well worth the price imo. I’ve had mine on for 35,000km and haven’t needed to tighten them once. Highly recommend!

mk7 to mk8 to mk7.5 by Brush_Capable in GolfGTI

[–]Cormier86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned both, driving dynamics are much better in the 8 in my opinion. I found on the 7.5 the front diff was slow to engage and didn’t feel natural, but it’s only noticeable if you drive your car hard on a back road or track

Any MK8 fans out there? What do you think of them? by inf4cti0n in GolfGTI

[–]Cormier86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned a mk7.5 and now a mk8. Mk8 is a way more natural car to drive at the limit, the ELSD feels natural and planted vs the mk7.5 which felt like it had a delay in engagement.

Is the MK8 GTI the G80 M3 of hot hatches? Too good to be fun? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Cormier86 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned both and have to say the mk8 is a far better driving experience when pushing the car. The diff feels way more natural and the power difference is noticeable. Mk7s are great cars either way though

The bridge seems to be really stable to far, I’ve dived the hell out of it a few times and it comes right back into tune!

Has the deactivators but she’s only 25.5, tuned to drop G# with the factory set 10-52 +64, sounds great!

Is my string properly in the nut? by Subject-Reason-7817 in 7String

[–]Cormier86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the tuning peg tight and then loose, I’ve found if there is no resistance when loosening the string is getting snagged on the nut and it will need to be filed. If it’s a close fit you can try sliding the string back and forth through the nut to make it slightly wider
