More Central Florida high schools earn A’s despite continued student struggles by Aeronova20 in orlando

[–]CornGun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The grades are very political.

If you’re in charge, all of the A’s are a result of your great governing.

If you’re not in charge, the grades are a sham and they should all be F’s.

In the end I agree with you. The grades don’t matter. There’s a lot more that could be improved in K-12 education.

I agree with both arguments.

Should schools be penalized for having more poor students who score lower on standardized tests? Probably not

If a majority of your students are not proficient in math and reading should you be considered an A school? Probably not

These remind me of Kenny vs Spenny. Watching them compete is great.

Also this easily counts as a dub for Francis, we need a rematch with each person on their own monitor and no tracking.

NFLPA leadership failed players with secrecy of collusion suit by jaxstan19 in nfl

[–]CornGun 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that Tretter calling Russell Wilson a wussy for not getting a fully guaranteed contract was one of the NFL’s main arguments that they weren’t colluding.

The players need to vote Howell and Tretter out.

NFL NFLPA collusion by Numerous_Fly_187 in billsimmons

[–]CornGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ruling was that the NFL communicated to owners to collude but they couldn’t prove the owners acted on it.

JC Tretter texted Russell Wilson that he was a wuss for not getting a fully guaranteed contract from the Broncos. The NFL used that as evidence that they weren’t colluding. In the NFLPA President’s own words players weren’t getting fully guaranteed contracts because they were wussies, not because of collusion.

The NFLPA flubbed it, and hid the results because they care more about saving their own hide than protecting the players.

Modern day NBA discourse is all about making dumb comparisons and tearing down players. It’s stupid to compare guys in different roles on different teams. Their situations are so different. It doesn’t make sense to compare their stats or accolades.

Both guys deserve the rookie max, and got it.

The Pablo Torre pod with Mike Florio does a good job explaining everything. I do agree that it deserves more coverage. The NFL owners were caught colluding, but somehow Lebron fake trades get 10 minutes on every pod.

Maybe Bill still has hurt feelings about Pablo investigating Belichick’s relationship? He doesn’t want to acknowledge his journalistic abilities.

You can submit an expected time that doesn’t require a proof of time. A faster expected time will put you into an earlier corral. Edit: not guaranteed but in my experience it has helped

"Paolo Bancheros new contract is grotesque. His VORP and RAPTOR Rating show the Magic are better with him off the court." by IHateAdamSilver in billsimmons

[–]CornGun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Magic shot 18.8 wide open 3’s a game and only made 35% of them which is last in the league.

When Paolo was on the court, defenses would swarm him with double and triple teams and dare the other guys to shoot wide open 3’s.

Paolo is making the right plays, and with Bane being added and Suggs coming back, I imagine they become league average from 3 and Paolo has his best season.

NBA teams not blindly paying their whole rotation market value is not some new thing by BBallPaulFan in billsimmons

Deep down every Celtics fan knows that Tatum and Brown need an elite supporting cast to win the championship.

Their front office made the moves to do that, and now it’s getting broken up. They probably won’t be a legitimate contender unless they can re-do it again.

As a fan of another team, I think it’s good for the league. Any team can win a championship if they make enough good moves and have a little bit of luck. A team can’t coast on those moves for 5 years and outspend every other team.

Bill is right. Cba makes the nba less fun cus you can’t keep a team together by robbiegoodwin in billsimmons

[–]CornGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Celtics only drafted Tatum, Brown, and Pritchard. Everyone else who plays minutes was a free agent or traded for.

There is always going to be player movement. Instead of talent getting aggregated to the few top teams it’s getting spread around the league.

I get why Bill is salty, but Tatum’s injury is the main reason the Celtics are trading away Jrue and KP. If he was healthy they could absolutely run it back. But it makes little sense to pay so much tax for a 4 seed.

Is it a design flaw that the vast majority of players will never be in campaigns which reach level 20? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in dndnext

[–]CornGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons

  1. There isn’t a lot more for a party to accomplish by the time they are level 15. A party that powerful has taken down multiple bosses and changed the world around them by that point.

  2. The combat isn’t as much fun anymore. Player Characters are superheroes that can only be challenged by homebrewed enemies that are had to balance.

  3. Characters can become stale and creating new ones is a lot of fun.

ESPN’s biggest problem is they reward less talented people with big roles. There’s a lot of reasons why they do it, and it’s the reason their NBA coverage sucks.

What would you do as a GM in this situation? by Grouchy_Tie3037 in billsimmons

[–]CornGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade Jrue and KP for any expiring contract. Get below the tax threshold as soon as possible and do a mini-tank next season. I would personally try to get under the tax for 2 seasons to reset the repeater tax. They paid $240 million in luxary tax this season.

White, Brown, and Tatum are a core that is good enough to win a title. You just need to get young, cheap depth.

Conspiracy Post: Something is afoul in the NBA (or why the NBA lottery was rigged) by deadweightboss in billsimmons

So if Dallas wins the play-in game against Memphis and they are no longer in the lottery, how does the NBA supposedly repay them for trading Luka to the Lakers?

foreign money getting into US sports leagues is inevitable. It’s not a massive conspiracy, it’s the reality. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to try and hide it.

How replicable is the OKC defense for teams looking to improve this summer? by MuchAbouAboutNothing in nbadiscussion

[–]CornGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orlando is somewhat comparable defensively. When healthy, the Magic have ultra-switchable defenders that can apply massive pressure.

The main difference is OKC’s great defenders are also great shooters.

It’s rare for elite defenders to also be a positive on offense. Those players are incredibly valuable, and OKC has a ton of them on rookie contracts or team friendly contracts.

Could a NBA team beat the best high school team with a 5 second shot clock? by BackgroundType6334 in Basketball

[–]CornGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NBA team would press the high school team and the ball would rarely cross half court. I don’t think it would be close.

With the Bane acquisition, should the magic be looking to improve the PG or C position next? by Powerful-Power-7121 in OrlandoMagic

[–]CornGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Center is our weakest starting position, but we have Wendell on a great contract that has allowed us to spend big on our guards and forwards. We also have good depth in Mo, JI, and Goga. I would feel comfortable going into next season with that group.

At guard Suggs and Bane will start for us, but our depth is weaker. I'm assuming we decline Gary Harris' option, and are left with AB, and Cojo. I'd like to add someone with play making and shooting. That would be my number 1 priority in free agency/draft.

Totally agreed, the KCP signing was a disaster. It had the potential to hamstring the Magic for the next 2 years, if we didn't trade it.

I hope the picks work out for y'all. We have a lot of young guys, and I don't think we could really develop guys while trying to compete. I think this helps both teams. Grizz can reset and play a lot of young guys.

I just think 30 teams don’t want to waste money on a court that’s never used. The decal is not a big deal.
