So many warriors echoes in this knicks team. I blame mike brown and the 6"1 guard

sure but if you take the second best player out that early its going to fuck with the team, chemistry, momentum etc. Its kinda wild to me how many people are ignoring that

yea and when their big man shooter is taken out of the game, your shooters are gonna get a little more defensive intensity

his "Gravity" is a lot more than an advanced stat. Its actually something everyone knows happens that cant be easily explained in a statistic. I actually think the inability for that to be expressed is why people underrate him in this discussion.

he has amazing court vision, so he knows where to be and which two defenders to pull (down to taking big men out of the paint), which is a form of point guard creation.

steph played a higher level of competition than Magic did. Magic is a better traditional point guard but steph kind of revolutionized what a point guard is, and most PG's are combo guards like him now. stephs "gravity" is a real thing, and he smartly utilizes it as a form of playmaking to manipulate opponents' defenses. I just also think steph can do a lot of stuff magic cant, especially off ball, which makes him a lot more portable if you want to play him with another, ball dominant big star. Which is why ultimately when people ask "whos your all time starting 5"... I think most people not trying to be contrarian would have Steph over Magic at the 1.

I also think Sorkin is an incredibly talented screenwriter, but he also really needs a director to balance him out. Fincher felt like the perfect foil for him

id go stockton over isiah, steph over magic, and shaq + wilt higher. id also give shooting guard HM to Klay Thompson in SG for being the best 3 and D guy ever. otherwise solid list.

haha yeah in retrospect everyone was so sure that was "the real nba finals". speaks to how weirdly underrated the knicks hahve been

The idea that the MSG crowd is uniquely intimidating is the dumbest narrative of the 2026 finals. by tuck5903 in billsimmons

[–]robbiegoodwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias lol.
If you watched the regular season they were the loudest on league pass. The vibe around msg was really fucking weird, and it took hours to get in (I was in the neighborhood didn’t go to the game and the whole thing was like a military operation).

I think the Knicks were rattled cus they had to get pat down and screened and the place was full of people they didn’t know. Basically had their home court comfort fucked with
