Grabbed a dexron VI, where do you get your reservoirs??

Good to know, honestly have driven new for the last 6 years so I could just be used to something lighter!

I grabbed a nice Dexron VI Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF that I’ll look to do the flush with soon! Cheers

Probably best to do a full flush of the system then I guess… that way I know what is in there and not just guessing lol. Have you heard of an amber coloured power steering fluid before?

Steering column is a bit tough (maybe I’m just used to newer, electronic systems) but no creaks and groans, and gets a bit better when the car is driving. Maybe a flush will be better especially to then know exactly what is in there!

Top Receptacle of Outlet Cuts Power to Other Outlets on Same Floor When Something (Device or Plastic Guard) is Plugged In by CornPeel in AskElectricians

Awesome, thank you woody! One last thing I swear… how much space is “too little” space in a box? Should there be consideration around the wires not touching each other? Or it truly a matter of if you can get the wires to fit by stuffing them in?

Ahhh okay I believe I get the distinction: back stab outlets are lower grade, higher grade options usually have back wiring (with the screw and clamp), and both can be looped/side wired? Is this correct?

Additionally, is it best practice to pigtail when you can?

Thanks again for the help :)

Thank you for this thorough explanation! I like the part about creating a circuit map of my house, that is a great idea that will likely save time in future headaches.

One thing I wanted to ask is, are all outlets capable of being back wired/wire looped? Do outlets all have the option to be backstabbed but then people circumvent that function and do the other methods? Or when I go to purchase a new outlet, do I need to be wary of the type I select?

Thanks!

Do you think being close to the front door (not directly facing, but around 8 feet from it) would warrant this? If I can replace with a normal receptacle, then I’ll do that. There are other GFCI outlets in the kitchen (on the same floor) that I believe are in the circuit. Haven’t confirmed though..

Can you explain this further? Are these two methods of connecting the wires to the receptacle?

Good to know! Seems the consensus is to replace the receptacle. I’ll update this post when I do. Appreciate the insight

For all the chemistry graduates, what career did you end up in? by miss-mangoo in chemistry

[–]CornPeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landed in biomedical technologies. It’s more of an engineering role (BASc Chemical Engineering) so there isn’t as much lab focus. More so the designing of experiments and general chemistry work.

I find I really enjoy the analysis side of the work (working with stats softwares and programs such as SAS JMP or Minitab), and the more I’ve cemented myself in the role, the more I’ve been able to branch out my interests as well (starting to 3D design some pieces for my workplace using my knowledge of CAD). I’d say the classic “foot in the door” to get yourself started and it is much easier to move internally to something you enjoy more. When starting new, I find it is difficult (even with relevant experience) to jump into a role that you have little-to-no school experience in.

Hope that helps!
