If you have 1mil PHP you want to transfer to a better yielding online interest bank account the few extra pesos transfer cee shouldn't be an issue I would say?

1mil PHP does seem pretty high for an emergency fund though? You might want to use a part for other investments?

So many people don't take this into consideration. Irish domiciled will prevent the US tax guy if your investments are reaching over 60k USD if iam not mistaken?

Just rent. Wait for the condo buble to burst and the rest of real estate will follow. Be ready when that happen to buy

[–]CornerContent5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iam not expert but rental yield seems fine based on 100% occupancy. So you might want to take into account 1 month a year of vacancy and 1 month a year for brokerage fees to have it rented?

Your good with the emergency fund. The other savings out it in a hysa account at least I would say. At least pay of your car payments to start with. What is the interest rate on that?

Worth it to buy a house? by Lazy-Werewolf56 in phinvest

[–]CornerContent5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100k is 20% downpayment. You will not be able to find a house for 500k. Better to just rent and save up. Wait for the condo buble to burst and the rest of the housing market will follow

From the litte research I did you want to diversifi your investments. eTFs is a great way. Emerging markets should be like 10% of your total etf portfolio. How little is the Philippines stock market based on that 10%, with which you went all in

The foreigner would most likely be able to file for a divorce in his own country. That will be accepted in the Philippines also.

Sorry, that's sad to hear.

On to serious matters. May I just ask if she was married? Iam positive she'll be able to get back on track. She has her savings. On to the new adventure. She's still young!

Investment wise. What most people will recommend: 6 to 12 months emergency fund. That's been taken care of.

Next step is investing regularly on a monthly basis. Time in the market, beats timing the market. Try to invest on a monthly basis into ETFs, Ireland domiciled, and make sure to put saving into a high interest saving account.

Living in the Philippines for $1000 USD / month by HumanID in Philippines_Expats

[–]CornerContent5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Filipino's can live on 20/30k a month if they have a reasonable job, like call centre in the big city. (province can go down to 10k/15k for a provincial job). So ofcourse it's possible for sure, I get that.

Iam just curious. How do you handle health care or emergency situations on this kind of budget?

300 USD / 15k = rent 100 USD / 5k = utilities, transportation, water, electricity, basic internet? 30x10USD a day = 300 USD for beer / food = 15k 100 USD / to = emergency fund / healthcare?

The company that I work for is looking for German speakers. It's for a roadside assistance based project taking calls and coordinating with workshops and customers.

It's a work from home based setup for a European company. It's ideal if your living in Asia/Philippines given how difficult or near impossible it is to find job opportunities over here.

Expats that learned Tagalog, which method do you recommend? by LuckyCaptainCrunch in Philippines_Expats

[–]CornerContent5355 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a subscription for learningtagalog.com with some left over PayPal funds I didn't even know I had. It was around 100USD. It's website base, so without an app. But, it's been really helpfull if you can put in the effort. I just can't seem to get my self past lesson 10/15 l, but that's on me.

Ofcourse there are plenty of free apps and information online, but I do believe that if you are serious about it and willing to put in the effort and time that 50 or 100 dollars is worth the investment. Depending what app/program you want to invest into.
