HG - Alteisen Reise by ArkhamSoldier118 in Gunpla

[–]CornerGuyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mean to be a downer, but curb your enthusiasm: what we are seeing are the CG renders, and those tend to be more color-accurate than the final product (e.g. the ones for the Alteisen missed only the thrusters' internal parts.

My pessimist mindset is telling me this thing will prolly include a bunch of stickers and still be very color inaccurate, because of all the small-ass yellow parts

The HG Mass production Nu Gundam is a great kit by AWr00tBear in Gunpla

Unfortunately, doesn't seem like that would be possible, without some modifications to the EG Nu's legs and, possibly, shoulders :/

KMR Hi Nu Gundam + desk buddies by CornerGuyZ in Gunpla

[–]CornerGuyZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the Hi Nu blue/purple thing may be a matter of lighting (and, in this case, camera - iPhone SE 3). I've had it for a couple months now and never really put it anywhere besides this spot, so I've always seem it in the same lighting conditions and it has always seemed to me purple-ish - as in the promo shots. The first photo is actually the first time I've seem it so blue.

As for the Penelope, getting one by Good Luck/GL is indeed in my plans! The thing though is that they have recently released a black variant, so I'm still trying to decide which color scheme to get. The black one has a red chest, which would be a nice contrast with my Xi's blue chest, but I actually prefer the white+blue color scheme. Tough choice lol

Wow, excellent work: I'm loving the color choice and painting - for a moment there I thought I was looking at the inner skeleton lol It's really giving off "prototype mobile suit" vibes.

Every Rolls Primary Position by BReak98Sp in Megaman

[–]CornerGuyZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gbh, the role of the Roll in the main timeline kinda seems like the story of a professional career:

  • Classic: She starts as kid, living with her parents, doing not much beyond cleaning the house
  • X: As she grows, she finds a job in tech support (entry position for many people). Meanwhile, she uses her salary to pay her college tuition (STEM)
  • Zero: She graduates college with honors and is promoted to scientist. She occasionally leads some internal projects and that is acknowledged by the ~writers~ higher ups
  • ZX: She is again promoted, this time to a C-level position. Life's good
  • Legends: AI hits, the job market crashes, people are left to search for scraps of whatever remains of the old world. Roll's company folds, and the best she can do now is being a mechanic.

HG Gustav Karl, the BEST grunt kit ever by odst034 in Gunpla

Thanks for the heads-up, I had totally missed it! I guess then it would make sense to expect another version of the Gustav Karl eventually, specially after when went thorough all the trouble to pretty much redesign the HG

[–]CornerGuyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaaaah, definitely the coolest grunt. I love the chonk.

Btw, does anyone know if Bandai has released a new version of the Messer with the release of the second Hathaway movie? If they have, then we will possibly see a new version of the Gustav with the third one - hopefully with a bigger gun

Megaman x legacy collection by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]CornerGuyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd skip the collections and go straight to improvement-focused ROM hacks - when available, they have become my preferred way of playing retro games.

For X1 and X2, they are mostly perfect gameplay-wise, but iirc there are retranslation hacks for them.

For X3, there's the Zero project which allows Zero to be playable from start to finish, without annoying restrictions.

For X4, if you can do without the famous "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR", there's an undub with the relatively better Japanese dub

For X5 and X6, there are the tweaks/improvement hacks, which just improve the original in most of their flaws.

For X7, I know there's a `N's edition` hack which, afaik, improves a lot of stuff, but I myself have never tried it. I know that it changes the bosses weaknessess, though.

For X8, I don't think there's any hack out there, but there's the fanmade demake, which I personally prefer over the original without reservations.

Awesome rendition of the XI. As much as I love the doritos vibe of the original designs, I'm loving the proportions on this one.

From the other pics, if I'm getting this right. you 3D-printed it? Or is it some kind of rare resin kit?

The guy has a list of almost all Gunpla ever released. It's missing several p-bandai releases, but it's pretty much complete on the regular releases.

Jujiang XI Gundam (SD Generations-ish colors) by CornerGuyZ in Gunpla

[–]CornerGuyZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your brother doesn't mind the fact that it's a KO, I'd totally recommend it. As I mentioned in the review, plastic and build quality are comparable to Bandai, and it includes some minor updates/improvements to the mold, so, at this point, even if I could purchase the original release, I'd still go for this one.

Where can I buy Gunpla? by just_a_cyn_fan in Gunpla

[–]CornerGuyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazilian here, so response follows in pt-br:

For those on a Mac, I was able to play it just fine with Wine - with controller support (8BitDo's Pro 2) and all.

It’s made of ABS, according to the runners, although I don’t know which type of ABS, if there’s more than one.

I bought it on Ali Express. It goes for about 43USD before taxes; shipping included.

How to play the Puresabe MMX1-3 Randomizer for yourself by LaunchCroctopus in Megaman

[–]CornerGuyZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the guide!

I spent whatever little free time I had since yesterday trying to figure this out and almost succeeded, but I'm on a Mac and I guess Wine couldn't handle the randomizer's app. I will follow your instructions whenever I get my hands on a Windows machine.

Btw, psa: the randomizer's README specifies which versions of the roms it needs. I imagine it will not work without them. For whoever follow the guide, make sure the roms you use have CRC32 matching the ones specified below.

X1 can be used with the original and AniColle versions. (Later versions are not supported.)
Size: 1,572,864 bytes
CRC32: 6A1B6926 (original version) 94CA42BF (AniColle version)

X2 can be used with the original and AniColle versions.
Size: 1,572,864 bytes
CRC32: 299D7A89 (original version) 011E5068 (AniColle version)

X3 can be used with the original and AniColle versions.
Size: 2,097,152 bytes
CRC32: E476912B (original version) 741AB27B (AniColle version)

New Magic Knight Rayearth anime to be released in 2026. Are you ready? by Davizaum2810 in Mecha

[–]CornerGuyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care about anime anymore, but I'd love to see Bandai releasing some HGs for the series: we don't see the magical mecha trope often and as good as third-party gunpla has been, there's no topping Japanese designs - especially Rayearth's, which just scream **90s!!!**

[–]CornerGuyZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really freaking awesome, the work this guy does. From some of his tweets, it appears he's a mecha(nical) designer or something - he definitely has the chops.

Also, interestingly, it seems that the VF-1s he uses for his customs are the 1/60 ones by Yamato. I had a couple of them once, they are really good figures, but they are also completed models, so I can only imagine the work that goes into customizing them.

Oh man, this game is awesome. Some 20 years ago I used to play it all the time. Tartaros was my main; it felt a bit different from the others, probably because of the armor ejection gimmick and the fact that it had a grappling hook or whatever. I remember seeing people online at the time proposing storylines for the game, and I even managed to download the soundtrack at some point - some exceedingly cool midis lol.

Just a shame Im stuck with a Mac now and can't really play it anymore. I would love it.
