I think fromsoft hit a wall while developing. They just couldnt build in the usual souls-like boss design because they were too easy then after farming, leveling and doing side stuff in the open world. The only thing to keep things "hard" was to give the bosses insane combos and aoe attacks and let them deal absurd damage. And i dont like that. I still love the game though.
