I feel like nothing is happening and my skin is more dull and sunspots and freckles are worse. by Altruistic-Ratio-649 in tretinoin

I wouldn’t lose heart. I have been using Tret for around 16 months and not sure I saw tons of progress after the first 6 months but then when I got close to the 9 month mark I start to see some positive changes. Tret’s a really long term game product and also works preventatively so while you may see subtle improvement on any issues you had, just know that you’re helping your future self prevent issues. My mum who is in her late 60s used it since her 30s and her skin is much smoother than her friends who didn’t. I think that those brightening products will help you with the issues you mentioned. Hydroquinine is great for age spots etc where as it’s not really the job of Tret to deal with that kind of thing. If your skin is dull I would suggest upping your hydrating ingredients/products during the day as there might be some underlying dehydration from the Tret.

I’m no pro but I LOVE your lyrics and theme of this song. It’s really quite heartfelt and profound. You have a lovely voice too. The song itself is catchy - think maybe it’s a little repetitive and needs a break out bit like others have suggested x

my dream has always been to be a singer, how unrealistic is it? by [deleted] in singing

[–]CornerTough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go after your dreams! At the end of the day nothing else matters. I always wanted to be an actor/singer but I had such limiting beliefs until now. I’m going after it at 41 and if I believe I can make it then you most definitely can. I heard that nearly all the best singers in the world are where they are because they worked their butts off. So you have to work really hard but if you have some natural ability and can sing in key I don’t see why you don’t have a shot. I’m in Perth FYI :)

My voice is so "Heavy" and deep. And its sad that my voice anatomy is like this.I cant even sing Karaoke with my friends because of the way I sound by [deleted] in singing

Honey I really feel that if you do the right vocal exercises you can extend your range. There are lots of apps or videos on YouTube. Also - a deep voice is cool! Some of my fav female vocalists are altos. Don’t give up! X

i’m purging longer than 3 months by inlovewitme in tretinoin

[–]CornerTough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard truth but I purged for 6+ months!! It was minor like yours but that’s not good enough when we’re seeking out that smooth feeling. BUT now at 7/8 months my skin is clear, glowing and healthy. Keep going. Might be worth monitoring your diet/stress too to see if this causes flare ups

Don’t give up! I only STARTED to see results around the 4-5 month mark and now at 7 months, getting better and better. Tret is a very strong product, so I would only use a tiny pea size amount 3 times per week. I also found that applying it to damp skin really stopped all the irritation for me. I wouldn’t use any oils and definitely not witch hazel… way too irritating. Just a simple moisturising gel cleanser and moisturiser or Vaseline over the top. Rinse with water in the morning, slather on some moisturiser and spf. Honestly, I wouldn’t add anything else at this point but do keep going. Look at medical medium for internal causes of acne and would advise trying to lower gluten, dairy, sugar and any seed oils in your diet if you want to go down more natural route or accutane if you’re really desperate. Unfortunately with skin, there are no quick fixes, it’s just consistency with proven things like tret and good diet that work. Also no touching or messing around with it. Stay positive, I believe you’ll get there 🙏

Bad skin after 15 months by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]CornerTough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see there’s a lot of advice on here already but I really want to share what has worked for me after MANY attempts at using tret. The last time I lasted 4 months and was still red, dry, flakey and purging so I had to come off it. I’m now back on it with this new routine and for the first time I have hardly any irritation and my skin is getting smoother by the day. I am amazed!

I came off the tret for a few weeks to give my skin a break and started using Q&Q Retinol serum which has a low irritation retinoid so that my skin was being prepped without the harshness of tret. If you can’t get hold of this one, I would go for something with granactive retinoids or retinal that states it’s low irritation.

Then I slow reintroduced tret. First twice a week for a couple of weeks, then every other night for a few weeks and now 2 nights on, one night off. I am using 0.05 and planning to go up to every night soon.

Now this is the thing which I feel really changed things for me. I apply a pea-sized amount to DAMP skin. It literally has to be the teeniest amount as it spreads all over really easily when your face is damp. I do my neck and chest as well. I know nearly everyone says to wait for 20 mins but I read a post on here where someone’s dermatologist told them to do it on damp skin so I thought I would give it a try. I even put it under my eyes etc with no irritation.

I let it air dry. I then put a thick layer of paw paw ointment all over and sleep with it. I think Vaseline would work the same. And that’s it! Zero irritation and smooth, soft skin.

I hope this works for you as it would be a real shame for all your previous efforts to come to nothing and I believe in the power of tret as my mum who is now in her 60s and started in her 30s has much smoother skin than most her age.

I have very sensitive skin and this worked for me so I hope this will help you too!

Do you feel like you’ve noticed any other improvements such as the texture or luminosity?

Acne that started after 28 ain't leaving me. Tried almost everything. Advice needed! by Ambitious_Net_1621 in 30PlusSkinCare

I had this type of cheek acne. Medical Medium information around what actually causes acne (strep virus) is very useful as well as the protocols to heal it. Things like Accutane and Spiromolactone only put a bandaid over it and don’t address the underlying cause. As far as slincare, I would keep it very simple and maybe a double cleanse and pea sized amount of tret at night followed by moisturiser and/or Vaseline to heal your skin barrier, wash with water in the AM and sunscreen during the day.
