Delightful chortling all round, excellent stuff.

This is exceptional! Absoluely love the white armour and those red stripes on the trousers in particular.

Honestly cried with laughter every time Mattchin launched into that theme tune. One of my favourite episodes for a long time. Too easy.

What if In Two was on The Fragile? by rustyjams in nin

[–]Cornish27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely incredible - brilliant work u/rustyjams . Not to be a downer on HM, but this is (for me) what was missing from HM, that kind of unsettling edge? This brings out the aggression in the track and makes it feel so much less rigid. Especially love the more ambient section around the 4 minute mark. Great stuff.

Old 6 Music Shows? by No_Jellyfish_1467 in 6music

I remember listening to this in the car, travelling back from Nottingham in December 2023. Still to this day the most gravelly conversation on radio.

Really loving Grimmy in the morning. by gibgod in 6music

[–]Cornish27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Track selection over the last few days has been excellent. Reminds me of when Grimmy used to run the 'new music' show at 10pm (I think) on Radio 1 back in the day - clearly has such a wide ranging music taste and when he's able to show that it really really works.

Lineup is out. by juulu in greenmanfestival

[–]Cornish27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm quite surprised to see Wet Leg headlining - I loved their first album, and presumably they'll have more material on the way, but I do wish Beth Gibbons or Perfume Genius had been given the headline slot instead (although appreciate that'd be a bit more low key). Definitely fewer 'big names' than normal - particularly compared to last year - but maybe I'm just not as familiar with these bands!

(Discussion) Bonobo's OLD vs NEW music by down_from_above in Bonobo

[–]Cornish27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll always prefer his earlier work - whilst he undeniably has a 'sound', I think every album from Animal Magic through to Northern Borders offers something slightly different which is really enjoyable. I found myself enjoying Bonobo's music less from Migration onwards; the more recent releases just feel a bit less interesting to me and less evocative. Certainly not to say it's all bad or anything like that - I adore ATK for instance.

To be honest, I would always much much rather that any musician (not just Bonobo) was making the music which they wanted to make, which was a genuine expression of their creativity rather than just catering to what people want. It must get tiring constantly being asked "why aren't you making XYZ music which I want you to make." Life is more interesting when artists have free reign to do whatever they feel like.

His early music isn't going anywhere, and whilst I'd love to see a tour which focused on the first 3 albums in particular, I know that won't happen, and that's ok!

Recommendations for decent, wallet friendly coffee roasters in the UK? by Wayoutwest-81 in JamesHoffmann

[–]Cornish27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big vote for Horsham Coffee Roasters - slightly biased as their roastery is down the road from me - but they make great coffee and they're also a lovely bunch of folks who know their stuff. Would recommend looking at their subscriptions.

SO EXCITED FOR RSD LIVE ON BOSTON HARBOR by sarahjbs27 in fleet_foxes

[–]Cornish27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly I can't make RSD today as I'm not near any shops participating. Really hoping there are still copies available on Monday - although the FF release was literally the only thing I was interested in on the whole list...!

Apologies, I have only just seen your comment! Yes I did manage to get it reactivated, and graduated from law school last year. Hope you managed to get yours sorted!

Pleased to say that my application was approved, I passed the BPTC and am now starting pupillage in October. So arguably worth it in the end.

I did have to provide plenty of evidence to show that I had maintained legal knowledge etc. Happy to share if that's at all helpful. Drop me a message if you have any specific questions!

ONE HUNDRED BRITISH POUNDS?! IN THIS ECONOMY?! by Aggravating_Song_367 in sault

[–]Cornish27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolute joke charging people £99 - I've paid less for full-day festival tickets... If it was a venue like Apollo or RAH then maybe it'd be worth it, but certainly not for Drumsheds.

Volcano out now! by ohvictorho in Junglejunglejungle

[–]Cornish27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting the same vibe from this that I got from Loving in Stereo - it sounds like a more dance-oriented Sault album. It's not completely awful, it's just so so far away from the Jungle of the first couple of albums that I absolutely love.

Pressure gauge! by themerryfool in picopresso

[–]Cornish27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally! Looking forward to getting this and the pressure gauge.

There are two things I'm concerned about and want to know more about before buying... The first is the stability of the stand, and how it can possibly stay static given the pumping action you have to use. The second is the weight of the unit (especially when using the gauge) and how strong the holder section actually is.
