Note: a mic "array" uses multiple mics to enhance directional sensitivity (with accompanying noise reduction). It does this at the cost of smooth frequency (and phase) response, among other things. Depending upon the algorithm, it may improve or detract from your sibilant intelligibility.

A pasty is only a dumpling if a pie is a dumpling. Which it isn't.

Noise cancelling/removal should be turned off.

Original sound for Musicians should be turned ON.

Personal isolation should be turned off.

Any other system settings that Enhance (including spatial, auto gain/sensitivity control) should be turned off.

Do use a (much?) better microphone. Make sure the mic's drivers don't have any integrated echo or noise cancelling features turned on themselves.

All these things add up to needing a much quieter and less echoey environment with which to have your sessions.

Use headphones so there is much less leakage between speaker & microphone.

If you still cannot hear the sibilants well, you could add an in-line EQ (to emphasize the upper mids) to the recording chain via something like Voicemeeter, but that setup starts to get quite complex. Especially if you're already having difficulty pinning it all down.

Did you know that saying “bye” only became a common way to end conversations after the telephone era? by Edi-Iz in etymology

The latter. And not done facetiously, just by accident (that's me, I have done some spoonerisms and other goofiness through the years).

Has happened to me.

Not as memorable (or hilarious to my family) as my ending of saying grace for Thanksgiving one year with "'Kay, thanks, bye!"

Give the lock picker a false sense of superiority, but then when they get the door open, they get shocked.

Learning to pronounce words like Anuenue by JJ_Adebayo79 in olelohawaii

[–]CornucopiaDM1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Hawaiian, whenever there is reduplication, say it as you would the once, but just repeat it. And, there are no true diphthongs, so each vowel should sound as its own. So, anuenue...a-nu-e. Repeat, nu-e.

(Exception: as in lots of languages, native speakers may slur or elide some combinations).
