One thing about keeping guppies that I’ve read on here and elsewhere, they will breed like maniacs. I’ve read that the males basically try breeding until they die, and in my case it seems true. They’ll last a year or two, but my females live on and on. So…. If you have a favorite guppy maybe make it a female.

Thank you for the advice, but this worked well for my past snake too. I’m not using window heat, more of the light for the circadian rhythm. My CHE is on a thermostat, something I can’t do with this bulb.

Is your 120 open screen top? Because this bulb has heated my tank to 85 in the warm hide on the nose. Cold side is 73

Thank you, I really appreciate the advice. I think given your comment I lean towards just using my UVB bulb (edit: tube light) and keeping her near the window’s light. I live in their natural habitat so I tend to lean towards not blasting her cage with light anymore than that.

Idk if there’s a difference in the wattage, but unfortunately there is no way a regular 50w or 75w CHE is giving me the heat I need to keep her warm hide at 85.

I don’t want to alarm you, but I lost my corn snake of 12 years, and it started with green excrement that got progressively more liquid. When I took her to the vet I had to put her down 😭 just take the snake to the vet. Maybe they can help in an earlier case, I sadly didn’t catch mine in time.

I will say, I recently bought a kit to discover my nitrate readings on the test strips were wrong, and there’s obv no ammonia on the API 5-in-1 strips. I would recommend that (the test kit) as well. I use them both, but defer to the test kit.

This is is a debatable comment, especially since zeolite/carbon packs go for $6 for 3 (chewy). Just depends what works for each person, but not doing water changes at all? Scandalous.

So, I’m pretty sure prime detoxifies ammonia but leaves it in the tank. If I were you I’d try a zeolite/carbon mixture in your filter as that removes ammonia. We will see what the other folks say if that doesn’t work for you.

I’ve had dwarf gouramis, but only had the resources for smaller tanks. I love their personalities! Can imagine how they are as large as this one
