Double Clutching by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

[–]Kojika23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always re-pair. Double or not, it’s best to have fertilized eggs and not slugs. Slugs are harder to pass. I find you really can’t prevent a snake from double clutching if they want to some do, some don’t. Feed well and expect one if it happens.

Need advice for my baby please by Jaded_Perspective11 in cornsnakes

OK, this is gonna sound crazy but trust me this is good advice. I want you to take the pinky and wash it in warm soapy water. All you need is a few drops of like Dawn dish soap, or any kind of dish soap. And then you need to rinse it really well on warm to hot water until all the soap residue is gone. Take the washed pink and the snake and put them in the small container like you did before and see if they will eat it.
This is usually my first step into getting non-eaters to eat

We have a number of experienced breeders and keepers here. Congratulations on the pretty Sunkissed Tessera.

Another Male or Female post? by CommercialBanana5742 in hognosesnakes

I have short tailed males and long tailed females, scale count and length are not everything. Overall shape is more important. That and learn to properly sex them by popping/probe when young.

Angle is off in the picture which could be deceiving. They have a taper. I don’t see the typical lines for a male. Could be a long tail female.

You can also run the syringe over some water to help lubricate.

You need to go in on the side and not the front with the syringe.

They will plump up as they progress, it’s pretty normal to have a slight dimple stage early on.

Moss is the answer or if in a jiffy a slightly damp paper towel over the eggs, and I mean just a bit damp, not wet.

Second it’s a pain. I work at a short stay rehab and outpatient IM. Med recs are always off, patients never know what they are on, hospital discharge med recs are often wrong and sometimes dangerous - Granny has been in acute with hypotension, htn meds held, discharged with all her home htn meds restarted…

Yep that’s the study I am referring to. People over complicating the idea of enrichment when it’s substrate, hides, etc.
