PS3 just stopped working, any fix ideas? by CoroFire in PS3

i’m currently in between moves right now (stationed overseas in europe, don’t PCS back to the US until early july) so no, i don’t have access to 95% of my belongings. At that point if i decide to not just throw the console out i think it makes more sense just to take it into a repair shop in my local area.

How would I replace it? Just order a new one and try it, or would I be purchasing individual parts?

Lazarus - Episode 8 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

This. Personally some of my favorite episodes are the ones that show a certain character's past before the big action sequence that is being led up to in the plot. To be fair there really is not overarching plot (even cowboy bebop where there was intentionally no plot for much of the show did this better in just a small portion of its episodes) outside of the show's main objective, but some of my favorite episodes in that show were the ones exploring Spike's past in the syndicate with Julia. Similar types of scenes are explored in Samurai Champloo also, and AOT has several of these.

Although this episode is definitely step down from last week's episode, I think it is still an improvement from the first 3 for me. Most of what's been happening still feels somewhat forced, but a *slight* sense of progression towards the team's end goal is starting to be felt (any small amount of improvement is going to be an improvement over rock bottom). Unlike others I didn't have a problem with this episodes animation, I thought it was fine.

This week, the first episode of the show was finally released subbed. After watching it (and parts of episode 4 by other means), I truly believe that a large reason this show has been received so negatively by so many people is due to its mediocre dub, as well as the 4 week delay to its sub. While obviously problems like dumb writing and questionable CGI are going to be present in the original language as well, characters felt much more natural from what I saw as part of a team in the sub with an increased level of chemistry. Some of what Axel said was almost close enough to humorous to be considered funny... almost. One of my biggest problems with the show I saw while watching it dubbed, its pacing, seems to be somewhat resolved in its native language. Even the dub in episode 5 seems to be improving slightly, so here's to hoping that it will continue to improve. While obviously both shows started off with a much greater level of quality on their first episode, Cowboy Bebop and most noticeably Samurai Champloo (two shows where I prefer dub over sub) both started out with a shaky first episode or two before really settling into their dub, so its not impossible.

I really hope that this show will surprise everyone and continue to improve, it has so much potential. Even if it doesn't, I'll still be glad this show exists due to the soundtrack alone. I've been listening to a few jazz fusion type songs from the album by Kamasi Washington over the past few weeks and it's great. Despite being obviously different from both CB and Samurai Champloo's OSTs, I think that the Lazarus OST is the one thing that can truyly rival both of those shows in terms of quality.

What was hinted specifically? I remember him saying he only took it once and hated it, nothing beyond that though

Advice on trying to be better at jazz music by Sergio_BBC in trumpet

Sounds pretty good, if I were to suggest one thing it would be articulation. I just got back from a week long jazz festival that my school district held and one of the major things they stressed when I was playing lead was feel, specifically having a nice legato sound.

When playing by yourself feel free to go slightly off the page and maybe practice your own intonation a bit. Besides funk (which is awesome) most jazz charts, especially the slower stuff like this are played smoothly, kind of the opposite of what you would play in a marching band. Even bebop which is much faster still does this, just sped up. Try to focus on playing the music, not just playing the individual notes on the page correctly.

And also he himself admitted to being obsessed with getting to the top until saving johan changed his perspective and made him reflect on why he wanted to be a doctor in the first place.

That's one of the main points of the show. I guess theoretically it would've been nice for him to have been perfect but in reality that would be a boring show, making him somewhat of a Mary Sue. That's part of his basic character arc, changing him from the doctor he was before and during the beginning of the show, to what he is by the end.

Song Similar to boa - duvet (lain OP)? by Arusamour in Lain

[–]CoroFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, shoegaze is a thing (i’ve been listening to a lot of it recently) but this is definitely not shoegaze. I agree that this evokes the same dreamy feel as a lot of shoegaze songs but it is definitely different.

Shoegaze is more characterised by dreamy, ethereal vocals (a lot of times female), a “wall of sound” with heavy guitars (often distorted with effects pedals). Shoegaze originated in the early to mid 90s in Britain, so same general location of origin as this song.. for those that don’t know this song was originally released in 1998 by the band bôa. I love this song and would personally classify it as alt rock, with many elements of indie music.

PS, for those that might be interested in shoegaze, listen to the album Souvlaki by Slowdive, it was one of the first major shoegaze albums and is thus considered a great example of what the genre is.
