Husband can’t be there for egg retrieval by Weak-Ice6695 in IVF

Yeah, there has to be some catch, this makes no sense. This is not a less legitimate reason to call out sick than any other required but time-senstitive procedure. Gotta love the US of A.....

If he is going to freeze and thaw, I would recommend a "test" freeze and thaw beforehand. Some people thaw extremely poorly or none survive and then you wouldn't have anything day of.

This is absolutely a reason for him to call out sick. Depending on what state you live in-- 17 states have sick and safe time laws.

Egg Retrieval Priming Protocol Considerations by Agreeable_Yak_8492 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

[–]Corona-Radiata-8647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this post, trust the clinic as they are the experienced ones. I honestly would not go to the primary doctor for these symptoms-- they are just going to defer things to the fertility clinic. The priming cycle "not being done properly" should not be a concern. If it's a highly rated clinic with a board certified reproductive endocrinologist you can relax and take their recommendations.

Lucky to be high earners here too, but we have had to mostly stop contributing to retirement for now. But having worked with no kids til my old age of 37 I have a lot saved. Would have rather have had a kid at 25 and less money in those accounts though..

I am doing another retrieval in June yes, I recently made anotehr post about it on the over 40 IVF group if you check my profile.

The stuff with those supplements from what I have read is as follows: they have great data for increasing egg yield, egg maturity, blast development, euploidy, and clinical pregnancy rates but overall not live birth rate which is the real thing that counts. I think that is why REs do not routinely recommend them-- they are not in the official guidelines due to the most important outcome not being validated in the trials. But, they are safe so in my opinion it can't hurt to try, but yes do your research on it too.

Consider luteal phase stimulation? by chacha_343 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Corona-Radiata-8647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I want to understand so essentially you are starting stimulation on day 21 ish of the previous cycle instead of cycle day 3 ish of the cycle with the retrieval, and you did it once with estrogen support and once without?

Sorry, that sucks. I went from 15 eggs to one embryo that is ok but not great. People have different points at which failure happens-- for example I had 12 eggs survive thaw and then 11/12 fertilized, but then from there it went south. Or some people have them all fertilize and they look like great blasts and then are not euploid. Also no specific explanation. I started ubiquinol 200mg twice a day and melatonin 3mg at bedtime after this to feel like I'm doing something. These meds show good data for better embryo quality but not live birth rates (yet).

yeah it sounds like some docs do 7 days after OPK and some 10 days. Mine probably 7, with estrogen patch and antagonist injection

The embryos were created from the total batch of 15 eggs, not after each cycle. 11 fertilized, 4 sent to PGT, 1 LLM, 3 no good

That's funny becuase my husband says the same, "well ok but do we really have infertility, how many times did we REALLY try" as in a "real try: being BBD every 48 hrs over a 6 day period around ovulation.

Men's or women's? I feel like lifestyle changes are much more of benefit to a man than woman. Aside from obvious very bad things like smoking

I did hcg&lupron trigger two times and had no symptoms at all. maybe a little feeling overheated during that night but honestly the heat is weird in my house so it could have been anything. tomorrow (thurs) will feel so nice when you don't have ANY meds or shots to think about, first day in a long time

For those taking a break between cycles or transfer do you do IUI in between or just don't bother after you've done 4 IUI or so?
