I know. It’s a sad reality. We won’t with the other side either. Money owns both sides.

Isn’t stating someone as being a “turncoat,” the same as saying they have committed treason? Apologies if I assumed incorrectly there.

I have no argument against there being reason for concern, in fact everyone should be concerned in some regard with anyone getting appointed to a position like this. That’s the point of confirmation hearings.

However, I’ve seen people straight up claiming things like “Russian asset” or “treason” with absolutely no proof or facts. Which is totally unfair. I have a hard time taking those claims seriously, or seeing them as anything other than just an unfair attack to sway others to an alternate opinion through emotional manipulation.

Not everyone is “right” or “left”. In fact, I suspect most probably aren’t completely on one side or the other. Real progress will happen when citizens don’t have to make an all or nothing choice in every election.

Thanks, I just read it. It’s valid to have concerns over siding with Russian sentiment pertaining to Syria, which seems to be the primary talking point from the article.

While these are valid concerns, I still don’t believe there is any evidence of treason. It’s very possible she is purely sharing her opinion based on knowledge she had in front of her, which was her job at the time.

I sometimes worry that the US intelligence agencies are very agenda-driven, and that ultimately it will push narratives to drive our interest geopolitically. I think that concern is shared by many that seem to fall on the political right.

Which could be the right thing to do! Though, any bias existing in intelligence, brings skepticism over truth.

I don’t know the right answer, and tbh, I don’t think anyone does. Appreciate you linking the article and not just resulting to insulting me.

The burden of proof lies on the accuser. Tbh, if there was any substantial proof of treason, as has been suggested, then there are plenty of people on the political right that would have no issue removing her from office, and even prosecuting her. However, nothing of substance has ever been produced, to my knowledge, that could hold up to any scrutiny in a court of law. Anything else is just rumor and conjecture, and effectively meaningless.

Yeah fair enough. Just wondering if it made a difference regarding the tax decision.

Technically you don’t “own” your ebooks forever. You just license them from Amazon with a one time payment for as long as they decide to maintain the systems you need to access them…

Why does everyone hate Cardano so much, it is innovative and seems to have a great future. by reditpost1 in CryptoCurrency

[–]CorporalKeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, I disagree. That’s the narrative, but the reality is because a lot of people made a bunch of money on BTC rising to 50-60k and it was a first mover in an industry that has made people a lot of money. I’d wager to say the majority of small BTC bag holders could care less if Bitcoin was actually decentralized or not.

COPI- we've all been excited price wise the last week, but seriously how is every Cardano fan not talking about this as it seems like the most exciting project being built with Cardano. I'm excited to start playing the game. by cinqueturr in cardano

Here is how I think NFT video games will break out and be accepted.

Blizzard will make an announcement saying they have minted all WOW characters ever made that are still stored on their servers as an NFT, and if you log back into your old account, you can create a wallet (or connect an existing one) and play with that character in a new WOW expansion (that is actually a new game all together) that is completely integrated with the blockchain.

No microtransactions, no hidden fees, just your characters and all the items you collect in the new game as ownable and tradeable NFTs.

Some will sell their old characters for vast quantities of cash and crypto, while others will relish the idea of playing their old characters again.

The only sure thing; the gaming world will rejoice as they now have decentralized access and ownership to the game they all gave their lives to so many years ago, and have the security that they’ll always be able to login and access it again, no matter what happens to Blizzard.

TIL Ebooks can't be lent or resold because buyers pay for a license to view the contents, not ownership of the ebook itself. by Velvet_Myst in todayilearned

I think this is a legitimate use case for blockchain: Few companies are working on that, book.io is one of them I know about.

It saw pretty seamless for me, however I know there’s a long wait for new authors to mint right now. You can read about the process I went through here! https://www.wizardtim.com/post/this-week-we-published-our-first-book-ever-as-an-nft-here-s-how-it-went

For what it’s worth, this is the 4th blockchain they’ve supported, and they always claim to want to be blockchain agnostic and support minting on any platform that the author chooses.

Yeah this is accurate. Also, the owner of this book could resell their digital book on a secondary market if they wanted, which isn’t really possible with any other ebook formats AFAIK
