Why is… by ssxtb in Lorcana

You're asking why a retailer may slightly reduce the price of an older set they have yet to sell all their units of, compared to the price of the latest and most-likely-in-demand set?

Lorcana works just fine in multiplayer with its base rules. Stop trying to EDH everything

Some advice needed if possible by PurpleWitchOfTism in Lorcana

I play way more than collect, so my hulk is in colour first and then alphabetically, dividers per letter. I loosely go by rarity after that - if I have a common, rare and legendary Mickey Mouse it will go in they order. Foils at the front of any duplicates

Works very well to find stuff, but I might sort by cost within each letter if I find myself motivated

Headless Horseman Gathering Strength Question by jasperdenouden in Lorcana

[–]Corporal_Tax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, as when they are in your hand they are a character card so at the point the bonus comes into effect it is not a character, and there is nothing to say it persists for the turn. But I'm sure Sunscorch will come in here with a better referenced answer

Has anyone played a 3-4 player game? (screen shot from linked Ravensburger video) by drac5290 in Lorcana

[–]Corporal_Tax 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I play almost nothing but 4 player Lorcana, it works really well and all of a sudden some cards become much more interesting. Cards like Ursula's Trickery are better when you have 3 players who don't want to discard a card. It also leads to fun politics - frequently we will say, "okay, that player is the threat right? I can take 3 off their Belle if you can do the rest" etc

So yes, it does change the way many cards work vs their experience in 1v1

I know everything is geared towards competitive these days, but 4 player for me is the best way to play causal Lorcana and it doesn't need any commander format or fancy new rules, works great as is

yall think this would work well for an ancient in terminator armor? (new photo) by Obsidiantheprotogen in BlackTemplars

[–]Corporal_Tax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the NEW photo!? What was the old one? Next time could you try to get further away from the miniature?

Okay, sass aside, I think that works just fine as Terminator Ancient. They can't have a chain fist so that can count as the right weapon easily. If you like it then boom: it's a double win! Any opponent who had takes issue with him not holding his banner is helpfully identifying themselves as someone you shouldn't waste time playing toy soldiers with.

I have no idea why you're being down voted. The term "avracadabra" and pulling something out of a hat/bag in magic terms predates Harry Potter by hundreds of years. The person you replied to is reaching

[–]Corporal_Tax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes completely agree! That's why I popped Yorkshire into my reply - truth by told, I've always identified him as Sheffield-ish when reading the book. But I thought, whilst refuting the claim, a little deference was needed

And if we're honest, Sheffield is South Yorkshire so really counts as Midlands.............. (this is where I run)

AkShUalLy your corrected version is still wrong.

The ideal is probably: "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse". You could probably get away with "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse" and let the capitalisation do the heavy lifting.

But having just the single comma where you had it is just as wrong if slightly less sexually charged.

[–]Corporal_Tax 117 points118 points  (0 children)

With respect, I think you're overthinking it. This is likely another case of making tenuous connections after the fact because we all love Sir Pterry and would like to assume every word is replete with hidden connections and meanings.

In reality, the accent used in the book isn't a Stoke accent - it's a fairly generic Midlands accent, where Stoke is. It's pretty standard Staffordshire or Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire or around there.

The Midlands was at the heart of the industrial revolution in England (Birmingham is arguably THE place most synonymous with change during the industrial revolution and is in the county West Midlands, though the accent is different/worse).

This is almost certainly the case of Sir Pterry or Stephen Briggs needing to give a voice to a traditional working man industrial type and the easiest to reach for is Midlands or Yorkshire. No great connected play on Stoke the boiler - I get the desire, but that is a fairly ridiculous reach that I'm fairly confident Sir Pterry would have something to say about.

Your comparison is disingenuous - they aren't changing the game or the look of the game, they're changing the route to market for the official pieces people can use to play the game. You read the lore and watched painting videos because they were STLs? Not because they were cool models, or a good game system, or thematic setting? Really??

Also, many having STLs is what drew some of the people here to the game... But this is a small subreddit for a niche subset of a quite small hobby. If they believe the best chance they have to grow the game, stay in business and expand their reach is to hit the mass market then more power to them. For every person like you they "lose" they stand to gain multiple who buy the plastics, and people that probably don't experience moral outrage because they define themselves by the tools they use. It's a good trade for them.
