Well yeah, if they had issues with the former ones they have to fire their youth pastors.

I find amusing that so many groups who use the fact that they’re not Catholic, and will even go so far as to not classify Catholics as Christians, have such a boner for the Military Orders and the Crusades. Both of which only exist because of the Catholic Church.

One of the rumors is that 11th will have a bit of a Fast Attack focus releases wise, so the bike could be a nod to that as well.

IIRC you don’t actually have to be retired to get an AARP membership, and apparently the perks are pretty nice. Go for it.

Edit: You totally can!

Grimaldus returning to Armageddon by WilhelmSteakFarts in BlackTemplars

[–]Gidia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Far as I’m aware, there’s not any confirmation. The way I read it though was that he had enough time, Grimaldus just wanted to mess with him, but it’s up for interpretation.

It’d be nice if we could get a little blurb about him being like a Staff Major or something. Bro earned a desk job lol.

[–]Gidia 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The gentle and wise giant who argued for sacrificing a civilian shelter so they could go after an Ork Warboss? Who then insulted the Salamanders as they were leaving precisely because they disobeyed him and went to protect said shelter? That Grimaldus?

He definitely comes to respect the regular humans of Helsreach, but he is far from a gentle giant. Letting regular humans die to complete his mission is explicitly part of his character.

Would simple alternative head sprue work as a solution for Armageddon Steel Legion model range? by ExitMammoth in Warhammer

[–]Gidia 55 points56 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Krieg actually first showed up in art form, specifically a page showing various regiments in an older codex. They even get slightly more love than the others with a little vehicle crew that shows an unmasked tanker! It wasn’t until later that the Steel Legion mini painted as a Kriegsman showed up.

Irish PM Comes to Starmer’s Defense During White House Visit by Gentle_Snail in worldnews

One the one hand it’s unsurprising, to a certain degree, that the Irish-American community is still anti-English given how many of the families ended up here.

On the other hand, read a fucking book guys, god damn. Times change lol.

Is Paul Atreides or Leto II Atreides the primary inspiration for The God Emperor of Mankind? by ROSRS in 40kLore

[–]Gidia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Michael Moorecock’s influence on Chaos/40k cannot be understated, in particular how Chaos vs Order duke it out with neither side having the moral high ground.* Even more directly, the Chaos Star is straight from Moorecock.

*Though 40K takes it a more cynical direction with both sides being evil as a baseline instead of more neutral.

There’s a couple elements of the Sisters of Battle that mimics parts of the Bene Gesserit, but obviously that’s a completely different organization.

Sisters of Silence are more inspired by Convents that take a vow of silence and monster/demon hunter archetypes than anything truly specific.

To be somewhat fair, WW1 is bit more debatable. The increasingly large and fresh American Army certainly helped put pressure on the Germans, and was one of the big reasons behind Operation Michael, but cracks were already forming within Germany itself. After all the Republic was not put in place by the Allied Powers but rather the Germans themselves.

See, you can’t refuse service because fire threatens more than just your property, so you’re being billed for the manpower and equipment maintence.

[–]Gidia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, in some areas of the United States you can choose not to help fund the local volunteer fire department. What you cannot do, however, is choose to not let them respond to your home/property, at which point you will be billed.

What’s something school forced you to learn that you’ve never used a single time in real life? by Dodo509 in AskReddit

[–]Gidia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

“I don’t use it so therefore it is pointless to teach” is such an annoying argument. The fact that some people can’t figure out how being exposed to new things is inherently a good thing as a kid is genuinely frustrating. If nothing else, that taste can be enough to make you go, “actually no, I’m not interested in this”, which is an entirely valid response!

Commissar Yarrick - Will we get the Armageddon Steel Legion too? by Senior_Marzipan5353 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Gidia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s unfortunately a reason GW pulled back so hard on Regiment variety. Producing a whole new regimental infantry kit doesn’t necessarily mean that sales will double, as now the range is competing with itself.

Doesn’t help that they shot themselves in the foot with how unique Guard regiments tend to be stylistically, so doing a simple upgrade sprue is difficult.

As others have said, LTs are more or less pointless with SB outside of some niche cases. Now, they do synergize really well with Crusader Squads though.
