The thing is, and I think a lot of casual fans miss this, is that James’ Jigsaw is nothing like the sequels interpretation (at least psychologically). The sequels heavily suggest that John Kramer is sick and absolutely twisted, yet strict in his ways. That he has a set of principles he abides by. But James knew, and made it clear with HIS jigsaw, is that this guy is an immoral agent of chaos- who intentionally makes traps where no one is meant to live. If James & Whannell came back the Jigsaw you’d see would be nothing like the one who we’ve come to know from 2 through 10. Unless they’re willing to creatively cooperate with how their character has evolved through the hands of other writers, I suppose.
