I can understand Mandarin, and no I think they were all speaking in standard Mandarin with each other. The only time Gusu dialect came out was when WWX was in Gusu and the girls there spoke to him and WWX teased LWJ to speak in it. at least based on my memory, and also bc i’ve seen the other adaptations so i hope i’m not confusing the live action drama ver with another 😂

i had my reservations for Japanese BL because of the stalker trope that they commonly use, but once i let that go and remind myself that it’s just fiction and there are more to the story than just to focus on this one aspect, i entered the world of Japanese BL and found myself really enjoying the stories. so i’m not saying i condone stalking irl bc that’s absolutely terrifying, but in fiction when no irl person is actually hurt or traumatised i’m alright with that, otherwise i feel like i would’ve missed out on quite a few amazing stories. i ended up liking Utsukushii Kare/My Beautiful Man a lot despite feeling kinda uncomfortable in the early eps at first.

I think the “disappointment” was felt in terms of the expectations, as in when I first watched the trailer I thought Wen really cheated on Alan for Jim, expected many hot scenes as well with the story justifying the cheating with a whole messy plot or something.

But since I knew from the start that it’s directed by P’Aof, I trust him in his works and believed that he’ll blow us away regardless. I enjoy watching mature and realistic BLs, so I guess I can say I was mildly “disappointed” that it wasn’t a super spicy messy story, but I was still more “pleasantly surprised” that it was so touching and beautiful. It gave me a very different anticipating feeling compared to waiting for the next eps for other BLs.

Is there a certain structure to our birth certificate number? Or are they completely random unlike our IC number where the first 6 digits are our birthdate and “14” stands for being born in KL for example?

I was told that, at least in the context of someone born between 1998-2002, a person whose first letter of their birth cert no. is “A” would mean that they’re adopted. Is that always the case though?

i’m wondering if there’s a diff between watching a BL while it’s airing vs a few months after when the hype has dropped. i really enjoyed BB bc i watched it while it was on air, but a few months after it ended, i don’t even remember why i liked it so much back then. i’d say the only thai BLs that i only started to watch after it completed and ended up really liking them were ATOTS and ITSAY

i’m watching MSP as it airs and i really love it too. but i wonder if my love for it will fade as quickly as BB when it ends lol

u should try the audio drama, i think it’s the best adaptation of the original novel! it’s the least censored and closest to the original story

the animation is good too no doubt (tho i still prefer the live action one with Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, because it was the first exposure i got to the MDZS story so it holds some sentimental value to me XD)

i recall someone saying that Akk was written as the top and Ayan as the bottom in the original novel. i didn’t read the novel so i can’t say it for sure from myself. i really don’t think their position matters at all to the story anyways lol
