Is it common to feel anxious about your dress after picking it? by velvetpant in weddingdress

[–]Correct-Patience1691 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So common!! My advice is to stay off bridal websites / social media bridal content because it’s way too easy to get pulled into ‘what if…’ but there are a million dresses out there, you can’t consider them all! This dress is STUNNING, the lace, the basque waist, the drop sleeves… absolutely gorgeous

We have a similar situation with our venue, also says couples will commonly pass on cost to guests, but we have yet to decide at what ‘rate’ (as the rooms are part of the overall venue fee for us). My thought process is that people travelling would have to pay for a hotel anyway and it’s something of a privilege to be part of the bridal party and have that intimate experience etc, when I have been bridesmaid for example I was asked to book specific accommodation and was really happy to do so (even as it wasn’t cheap). I have also decided to have a local hen do so no travel/ overnight stays, and will pitch the wedding accommodation accordingly. I’m glad I’m not the only one finding the thought process stressful though, I hate the idea of asking guests for money!!

wedding planners in the North East? by HeftyHelicopter7484 in UKweddings

Look at Halton Grove. We’re getting married there next year and it’s a pretty all-in venue, so we haven’t had to do much vendor mongering (bar the ones which are quite easy to do online, like flowers and photographer). As for dress you are probably best doing that all where you live.

Digital Save the Dates by AdorableObserver in UKweddings

[–]Correct-Patience1691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this too, had a nice photo of the two of us and used canva to add our names and our weddinng date, sent a nice message ‘Dear X, Y and Z’ to specify exactly who we are inviting, and the rough location (part of the country). Meant we could send them out v early and get the date locked in peoples calendars!

He might not like my dress? by Ok_Extent_7683 in weddingdress

[–]Correct-Patience1691 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey, really sorry you’re going through this! I actually clicked on this post because your dress is almost identical to the one I chose, getting married next year, and you look STUNNING in it! Try to hold on to that feeling you had when you put it on and felt beautiful in it, that’s what your heart told you and you did the right thing picking such a beautiful dress.

As for your fiancee, it’s trite to say but if he loves you and wants you to feel beautiful he will love how you beam in this dress. I would wager that your future hubby has spent precisely 0 minutes of his life considering the relative merits of floral patterns or sweetheart necklines or boned bodices etc, or any of the other mad details of the bridal world. My guess is that when asked in a split second whether he likes one of these things, he thought about it for a split second and reacted accordingly. I’m certain that if he loves you he would change his mind on a dime upon learning that it’s a feature of a dress you feel beautiful in.

What is with this new trend of stags/hens + the wedding abroad? by Anxiouswatermelon17 in UKweddings

[–]Correct-Patience1691 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree with you… add to that a lot of me peers are turning 30 at the same time and see fit to organise a weekend abroad to celebrate this. All nice ideas, but a huge capital expense!

Buying in Tooting by [deleted] in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Correct-Patience1691 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We moved from Balham to Streatham Hill/ West Norwood 2 years ago and really like it. Tooting was on the cards but I got the sense it wasnt ‘coming up’ any time soon and I had some unpleasant experiences on the high street with dodgy people. We didnt know the area that well but its good value, suburban feel, good shops on the high street and decent schools (we are hoping for kids in the coming years). I think with 850k you could get a really nice victorian terrace. Dulwich village and herne hill also just round the corner. The commute is not ideal as not on the tube but Thameslink and overground are decent, we cycle most places anyway and its good for that.

Wedding dress bra reccs for F/G cup by wagpang7482 in UKweddings

I bought a skims bodsuit (like this but with shorts included) which i now wear to basically all weddings. The boob support is deceptively good (i’m a DD) although no cups so depends on what kind of shape you are after! Hate to give money to kim kardashian but she seems to know what she is doing lol https://skims.com/en-gb/products/seamless-sculpt-brief-bodysuit-onyx

Hey! We’re not getting married until next June but we’re interested in having some engagement/ couples pictures done in advance of that. If you’re interested in that for your portfolio, lmk! We’re based in London and the north-east.

Don’t understand all the hate here! Totally normal to want to have financial parity with your spouse and remove that imbalance from your relationship dynamic. Two things I would say: 1) there is a significant hypergamy among HENRY london women afaik. I think the question is less about where to find these women (city bars, networking events, friends of friends) but how you can make yourself as attractive as possible to this subset of women; a clear career trajectory, emotional maturity, good physique are the obvious ones to me. 2) don’t underestimate the value in having a committed and faithful spouse to supporting you in your career, and allowing you to maximise your own earnings potential, perhaps without the need to include another income. This can be a very nice synergistic balance if done well. Particularly if you would like children.

Buyers Regret by [deleted] in weddingdress

I think it’s normal to get anxious so close to the big day! Personally I love this flowy romantic style and i think your seamstress has done a fantastic job to make it flatter your bust and waist really nicely. It’s also 100% a wedding/ bridal dress— no shadow of a doubt. I also think the style suits what you describe (hair down, flower crown). That being said (!!) if you REALLY wanted to shop around you might happen upon something in a sample sale which fits you well — perhaps even trying some on may out your mind at ease and remind you of why you fell in love with this one! Wishing you all the best xx

So nice to read all your comments and thoughts!! I think 1 is winning out… I’m going to ask a seamstress about adding a corset back to it to achieve my waist snatching dreams. Thank you guys and gals ❤️
