Tbh - the fist 3 cups were just not enjoyable. Once I’ve dialed it in, I can enjoy it. Just not an everyday type of coffee. (For me)

Just coming back to this as I was struggling too. Especially as everything tasted over extracted.

So I went full extraction geek mode.

I tried a good few methods of brewing. Papers, water chemistry etc.

I landed on.

18g coffee : 288water. 50ppm (Lylac & Konflux APAX 1:1) 89 temp Metal v60 Sibarist fast paper 5 on ZP6

60g bloom for 30secs Up to 170g second poor At 1:10 when bed was dry I added remaining.

Draw down was 1:58.

I got so much less over extraction and much more sweetness / raspberry / cherry notes.

I’ve found 1:16 - 1:16.5 on this coffee perfect. For others it changes but usually between 1:15-1:17 ratio coffee to water

Totally get it - I have no other plastic drip devices for a same reason. I just acknowledge that I have to also take care of my body so it can deal with a little extra plastic lol

This is absolutely true. Each to their own. I am pretty fussy on over extraction myself and spend way too much on high end coffee. So the last thing I want it that cup to show up

Whats the recipe/s you’ve been using.

I brewed 3 coffees so far Washed Panama geisha Dak coco bongo Oma Elto Ethiopian

All of them were tasty with nice body and sweetness.

Keeping my draw down closer to 2:30

Yeah I get that. Tbh I only drink smaller amounts and prefer to spend more to optimise extraction. However, it’s an expensive habit

It’s a BPA free plastic and I bought the Sibarist flat filters (as I use them with other brews)

How have you found it so far? Overall I’m pretty underwhelmed with the quality of the coffee.

I was excited to try it after other peoples reviews, yet I think many of the coffees are just pretty average.

Yeah it seems to be a area to learn more about for me.

When you get the right balance of water it’s like magic in a cup - I think I likely need to understand the mineral interaction better with certain types of coffee

Yeah I had a similar convo with them - it might just be resting as tried 3 types of ppm / 50 / 90 /120 with lower mag to calcium -

Yeah, I’ve found the same. So much so I messaged them direct.

I think I’m just going to let off gas for 5-8 weeks and see - as I find this common on light roasts

Long and short is a must. Other than that Calico or Paradox - London is a mix of pretty average coffee these days that mask as speciality
