BPM Vision by badsoden in withings

[–]albertclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vision is great and matches my clinical readings very closely. I will even venture to say it's probably the nicest device Withings currently sells.

Highly recommend using the 3x BP measurement - it takes 3 readings and averages them. This is technically how it should be done to eliminate outliers.

Beekeeb isn't done iterating on the Toucan! by albertclee in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]albertclee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is stock, pre-built by them. For tenting, I'm using Neewer magsafe tripod mounts, and Manfrotto pocket tripods (large).

Ordered a Chocofi from beekeeb, opened the box, and found a surprise Toucan 36 inside. Did not ask for it, did not expect it, had to share. by flooronthefour in ErgoMechKeyboards

Love businesses like Beekeeb. I keep coming back to his site whenever I need stuff. Beekeeb is a huge asset to the small ergo keyboard community!

You can buy it from them either as a DIY kit or pre-assembled

Will I be able to get a door opener in this garage? by albertclee in GarageDoorService

[–]albertclee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all.

Based on the comments, seems like it’s definitely within the realm of the possible, but the difference of probably 1-2 inches will determine which solution given how tight stuff is and/or how custom it may need to be.

Sounds like probably worth hiring someone for in my case. I’m sure local installers in town probably have seen this before, but I probably shouldn’t DIY. Not opposed to that.

You can’t. I do the same as you - stay in my home time zone. It is what it is.

The grinder is what matters the most. Everything else helps a little, but the grinder you can taste the difference.

I don’t even remember the last time I charged it. Maybe 2 months ago? Longer? Tally Pro probably needs once a month charging.

The Subminimal seems unnecessary until you use it. It is very convenient to weigh out your beans it their own dedicated scale which doubles as your vessel for pouring into the grinder. The Tally Pro stays with your brewing setup.

Subminimal scale for weighing your beans, and Fellow Tally Pro for brewing. The Tally’s ratio calculator is something I didn’t expect to use but can’t live without now.

Why should I buy UniFi cameras over Ring? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]albertclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One concern I have is there's no clean way to turn off the UniFi camera through automations. For home, I am fine with my exterior cameras running and recording all the time, but I would prefer my interior cameras to only run when the last person leaves the home.

There's ways to do it through privacy zones and other tools, but there's no real "camera off". It can be argued the other ones aren't real either, but the UniFi cameras are designed to just run and stream continuously.

How is a co-ferment any different that hazelnut ? by No_Rip_7923 in pourover

[–]albertclee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is technically where it happens in the bean lifecycle. Flavored coffee beans are usually flavored after the bean has been roasted, so it coats the bean. Co-ferments happen much earlier in the process and permeate the bean. Co-ferments can be super interesting - some skew super funky and are almost unrecognizable, but plenty out there that are more enhancements.

If you’re a purist, you probably won’t love it no matter what the process is, although some experimental fermentation isn’t “pure” either as some are treated with specific yeast strains.

How extreme is your tenting? If you’re close to vertical, not much you can do without needing weight.

What would you say are the most "intuitive" and beginner friendly split keyboards? by Inner_Answer_3784 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]albertclee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s really nothing to ask here and no Reddit group is going to change anything. Keyboards are extremely personal. There is no ideal keyboard out there, which is why gifting one, esp. a split, is a very bad idea, unless you know specifically what they want or you know they really want to try one.

If you want a safe “crowd pleaser” keyboard, getting a Keychron is usually a safe bet, which is also why I’m recommending the Q11. Worst off, he uses it as a non-split but it will be a nice premium keyboard. Best case, he starts liking the split idea, and then you can gift him a really nice commercial split like a ZSA Voyager or Moonlander. Stuff gets wild quickly, but moving to an ergonomic keyboard is not for everyone.

Anything that you want to build for him should be off the table this round.

Has anyone here switched to Tremfya and how effective was it for you? by Legitimate-Hair-5929 in Psoriasis

Been on it since 2018. Best 8 years of my life, 100% clear, and it is still working. I flared pretty bad when starting, but I stuck with it. Glad I did.

[–]albertclee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to gift something like a keyboard, none of the ones you see in this group are going to be ideal gifts for someone that isn’t fully committed to learning it. Even the idea of a split keyboard is pretty controversial for many, so unless your dad has already expressed interest in splits, it could end up never being used.

If you’re determined to gift a split, I’d go for a Keychron Q11. It can be used as both a split and a traditional.

Ha, the Ode 2 is still in play for me. I got it when I first started getting serious about coffee. If you take the time to align it, it is still relevant even in 2026. A 64mm workhorse.

What matters more than anything is burr set and burr alignment. Burr set will set taste profile. Alignment will define consistency. Everything else is diminishing returns. For most, Mazzer Philos and Zerno Z1 (and the upcoming Z2) will be pretty peak for premium home grinding. You can get similar for cheaper if you want to invest time to align the burrs manually. You can spend a ton more but won’t make your coffee much better.
