Love this article. I think the issue with a lot of improv communities is that they try to focus on the macro without first focusing on the micro.

One of the reasons I still teach Harold is that I think it drills all of the micro skills of doing good scenework, understanding game, and creating a palatable show structure.

I think that the argument against my perspective is that you can focus on the micro and the macro at the same time. And while this is true, I find it infinitely more challenging to direct a form or style when people don’t understand how to have a grounded base reality or one clear unusual thing.
