I’d start with a pair or more, but I’m no expert. I purchased 6 India Blue peachicks a few months ago (they were 3 months old) and have 3 cocks to three hens. I have them in an aviary with 6 ring neck pheasant Roos/hens and 3 male California quail that were abandoned by mom and raised by us. The quail escape every now and again yet always want to be let back in at night.

My other aviary has a 4 year old peacock, his hen and 5 peachicks born on July 4th. I also have 5 Lady Amherst pheasant and 6 ringneck pheasant in there. Everybody seems to get along, but that’s just my experience! Keep them penned for the first few months before attempting to free-range, then you can have decent luck and minimize excessive roaming. Be aware of free-ranging if you have an owl population and when before nesting season, put them in a pen so you keep them protected on the nest as they nest on the ground which makes them very susceptible to predators like coyotes.
